I've been away for a few days or so, took me 2 and half pages to catch up......after seeing pics and reading responses....my observation tells me a group of you, not naming names but you know who you are, are either silly with the silly season, or, as I'm inclined to believe, you people are drug sharing....Set up:

So -- Cornell Ornithology does this annual bird count thingy called Project Feederwatch (sort of a citizen science kind of thing). Mrs. H, needless to say, is a long time contributor. The combination of cold weather and some snow has brought the cardinals out of the woodwork at our house this morning. Mrs. H knows from experience that if she enters a large number for certain species (e.g., Northern Cardinal) they ask for some evidence.
That's where I come in!
twenty of them rascals this morning.
Mind you, there were zero cardinals reported in this area until 1969. Now, as shown above, they're pretty common.
