NETGEAR Nighthawk Multi-Gig Cable Modem CM2000
    NETGEAR Nighthawk Tri-band Mesh (MK83) AX3600 Router

If you get these two? No more buffering, no more waiting, no more BS. I have Spectrum as well. I returned their stuff and got these. They were both recommended by Trey (who had no issues in his house) and was also after blowing almost a grand trying other gear that ultimately did not work. FWIW.

I have a gamer friend whom swears by LAN connections for gaming. It’s all about a locked-on signal and speed. Wi-fi has to buffer and is slower than LAN.

  • Wired connection is definitely the best for gaming if you can make it happen. I would also recommend running a speed test on a wired connection directly to your router; make sure you are getting what you are paying for and the ping isn't high. My router has a speed test built into the admin page.

Also, if you are having issues with dropping on a wired connection you could call your provider and ask them to take a look at your connection.
