Did you even let the new one break in? I've read the Node 3 is better sounding stock than the 2i. But, yes an LPS upgrade should make it better. I've found this to be true of every piece of gear I've owned that used a cheap SMPS.

This is the one I got, have heard nothing but great things and with the crazy low exchange rate, a great deal.

No, I haven’t let the new Node break-in, b/c I’m not going to use the internal dac, and it’s still a SMPS. Like you said, LPSs are sonically preferable.

The main changes on the Node are the push-buttons on the fascia, inclusion of an HDMI input, and dac “upgrade” to 24/192kHz and MQA support (which no one here seems to like). Doubtful any of this will overcome the SMPS sonics with break-in.

I’ll let it run while LPS is being shipped to find out if anything changes, but I’m not expecting miracles.

Definitely gonna upgrade to LPS and be done with it.

Yes, still waiting. Now it's just a matter of procrastination and once I do install the module I have to revamp (reorganize, rewire) the entire rig. It's a tedious project so I need to make sure I have 1/2 a day to do it. It's needed to be cleaned behind and cables rerouted and old unused gear (broken dvdp) needed to be removed for awhile.

It's so tight I have to pull the cabinet out to get behind the power conditioner to plug and unplug gear. I haphazardly changed all my PC's not that long ago and it's messy since I didn't pull the entire cabinet out from the wall.

I'll essentially be taking out each piece of gear, cleaning everything including all input and outputs with DeOxit, etc. It's been awhile and it makes sense to do it when I install the LPS.
