lately Fedex for me will change the delivery 4 times. It is pretty ridiculous. I have stopped using them for 90% of my shipments.

Yep when I was expecting a preamp one time. I was getting text/email notifications I wasn't home while sitting in a lawn chair in my driveway. They were not even coming by.

We've dropped them as one of our companies we use at a major insurance company/ agriculture company. So unreliable they were not even coming by our businesses to pick up the next day airs or ground sometimes they'd sit for 3 days waiting for them to come pick up our outgoing. When it came time to renegotiate the contract we let him have it in spades. They blamed us for not having our packages ready for them to pick up. They're scheduled pick up time was 5:00 Central standard Time. Their pickup driver was coming by at 11:00 a.m. to pick up our outgoing of course we told them to come back and the driver would say " If I have time" then somehow magically he never had time.
How many businesses have all their outgoing FedEx packages ready at 11:00 in the morning? I'll tell you how many only the companies items that didn't get picked up the night before.
Of course FedEx thought that was perfectly satisfactory.

They all suck. Cannot rely on any of there time frames you pay for.

Heck it just took USPS 9 days to deliver a bill first class to a company in Pennsylvania. Of course that bill arrived a day late and of course I had to pay a $10 late fee. I asked the company why they're going by the delivery day instead of the postmarked stamp cancellation as it plainly showed my check was postmarked a week before the due date.

    Incredible times are here.

I recently ordered a Topping DAC from Amazon. The next morning (Saturday) I got the shipment notification, but that night I got this email:

Unfortunately, a problem occurred during shipping and we had to cancel your delivery. The package is being returned, and we will issue a refund within 3 - 5 business days after the return is processed. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience.

So, the following Friday (6 days later...), I looked for my refund. Nothing in my bank account. Hmmm.

I checked my Amazon account and it said the order was in transit back to the seller. Still. So, it spent less than a day on its way to me, but it was still on its way back to the mothership after 6 days. And, they weren't going to refund my money until they received it.

It took me more than a couple of emails, hunting around Amazon's customer service site, and a call to get my refund processed even though they never delivered the DAC.

Hopefully, no one gets offended by my slightly off-topic rant while Toolfan66 works up his review...

I can’t get connected to my computer to access my music folder, everything else as been pretty much a breeze, yes it’s all a learning curve for me. I have been using Qobuz since yesterday morning, have been able to use Bluetooth, not that I see myself using Bluetooth, but checking out all the bells and whistles.

When I go to connect to my (the unit sees my computer) it is asking for username and password, I assume the username name would be me as I am the administrator, and the password to the computer, it just clears it, and has me try again. So I’m missing something here.

I have never used Qobuz, Title or the like. Qobuz is pretty cool so far..

    Happy Easter…

    Quick review,

First I will start with the build quality, this unit is a tank, just under 50lbs. Just a beautiful unit all around.

Keep in mind, I have nothing to compare this to, this is truly breaking my streaming cherry.
Also I should note the MIT XLR Shotgun S3’s I pulled from my stash are/were brand new, that I am using.

I would say Saturday when I finally figured out how to get it set up, and I got Qobuz up and running and picking up on how to use it, I started playing a few tracks just to familiarize my self with it.

The first few hours sounded good for the most part but at times I felt some tracks seemed congested so to speak, not as open as I like. As the day wore on I was having a blast just throwing song after song at it with no issues, and during the evening it really started to open up, sounding much better.

I put on Pink Floyd Animals, and it was great, maybe in a couple weeks I will AB the SACD to this file.

Yesterday I spent a good part of the day trying to get it to pick up my music I have saved on a SSD card in my computer. I didn’t have the computer in share mode on my network.

It took a while for it to pick up that many files.

As far as it being a keeper? I don’t see it going anywhere, having that much music at your fingertips is just incredible, and the audio quality so far is fantastic, and I’m going to bet it will continue to get better as the days go by..

No everything on Qobuz is HR, and so far to me this will be no different than CD’s, some files will have that punch you love just like your favorite CD’s and some you will find lacking.

And I love building a track list, build 50 tracks hit play and go into a nirvana state of mind. Hell just go about your day in your house, No commercials, no getting up to change a disc, and no listening to all the tracks you don’t care to hear…

I love the fact that it has inputs AND outputs. Great initial write up, Larry. For a moment there, I thought that maybe I had bought it myself....living vicariously through your pictures.

Here are my observations when it comes to streaming Tidal and Qobuz. It is somewhat of a hit and miss. (I don’t do local files). BUT, if you hit all 3 of the parameters below? The presentation and what it offers can be phenomenal.

1st criteria - The recording. This is a given. You can’t make chicken soup out of chicken ****.

2nd criteria - The version of the release. Both Tidal and Qobuz do not always pick the best version out there. Every once in a while you stumble across a great release and a great recording. But you have only hit two of the criteria. You need the third.

3rd criteria - The bit rate offered. Just because it has a high bit rate, does not necessarily mean that you have the best version or recording of said selection. Some lower bit rates sound better than the higher bit rates, depending on the first two criteria.

With that said, when all 3 criteria are met? THIS is where the magic happens and streaming sounds absolutely stunning to listen too. If you take away just one of the criteria, quality goes down, You have to have all 3 for it to really shine.

One other observation I have had with both Tidal and Qobuz is that *most* remasters sound worse than the originals. The problem I have is that both seem to only offer the remastered version on many selections. Drives me nuckin' futz. At that point, I'll switch to LP or any of the other selections of the digital alphabet soup acronym scramble.

This burn-in/settle-in experience still surprises me every time I put something new in place.

That's what it's all about. Welcome to the benefits/joys of streaming B)
I've found that I like listening to music both streaming and with records and a turntable, because each satisfies in its own ways. Each also makes me further appreciate the other for what is unique to each experience.

@erniejade - [“…For me on the original node, I found it more narrowed sounding, not as wide or natural even going to an external dac. I have not heard the newest version so I can't comment on it.”]

Bought current version Node yesterday for my office. Connected it to Denafrips Ares II dac, but got a disappointing result, exactly as you described above.

I can confirm that the current stock Node soundstage is 2D and not very wide; sound is very much localized at the speakers.

I already have a Node 2i with LHY LPS upgrade running through another Denafrips Ares II dac. The LPS upgrade sounds 3D, black background, with tighter, more powerful bass. Very good, satisfying sound.

LPS upgrade seems necessary for getting best sound from any version Node with external dac. Ordering another tomorrow.

Did you even let the new one break in? I've read the Node 3 is better sounding stock than the 2i. But, yes an LPS upgrade should make it better. I've found this to be true of every piece of gear I've owned that used a cheap SMPS.

This is the one I got, have heard nothing but great things and with the crazy low exchange rate, a great deal.
