I never said it was childish to be attached to a pet, just that in it's simplest form, two wrongs don't make a right!

I've got to agree with Jesse on this one. As bad as you may feel when you lose a pet, the suggestions of baseball bats, shotguns, etc... are just wrong. Find a lawful solution to the issue...or you lower yourself to their level. There have been plenty of excellent suggestion on what to do and to make sure that no one else but the guilty get in trouble. Your best bet would be to exhaust every effort to see that justice is done...within the confines of the law.

It's been awhile since I had them but let me tell you, the day someone would have hurt one of my three buddies of 22+ years (three siameese cats)would have been the last day they lived. My best buddies were Scamp and Tuffy. Baby ended up taking to my mom. I got them when I was about six. They watched out for me most of my life (and siameese can physically do that) until I took care of their final needs when I was about 28 to 30. Baby saved my mom when she first got sick by scratching her face until she woke up and called an ambulance. (She was deathly sick one night and had she not got the help she needed it would have been her last). First time Baby ever scratched her. These guys were as much family members as a brother or sister and would have caused the same distress as as a hurt family member would have. Just the way it is.

Truer words were never spoken Madmax. I lost both of my cats last year. Tammy made it to 20 and Oscar made it to 13. I had to put Oscar down 14 days after my mother died in September. I'm still recovering from all 3 deaths. I had Tammy from a kitten. You don't take care of pets year in & year out to not have them become part of the family.

All we are saying is that all the love & devotion we give to them & they give to us, to have something like this happen makes you see red. But you have to let the law handle the revenge part of it.

I'm going to share like i never did before.

Oscar was my very first dog that I remember. He was struck by a car and I was devistated. I took it so hard my Mother bought me a puppy the very next day and we named her Sophie.

Many years later my parents decided to seperate/divorce and my dad took Sophie to the vet.

Me and Sophie had a routine and when I made it home 1 day she was not there and my quests began. "Routine is Routine and there was a break." NO Sophie...where could she be I asked myself. I was frantic and spent time searching for my budddy.
(in time and guilt I guess)
My Dad told me he destroyed her and I flipped!. This is the only time in my life in which I intended on beating my Dads ****. Long story short... I did not disrespect my Father. Sophie was gone but not forgot.

My point many years later... Life is precious and must be cherished! can we make it better?

    Henry

    btw sorry about the spelling

When I was a kid, a wild ratty looking persian cat started hanging around our house. It was so skinny, I could tell it was starving. So I fed her.

Well, my parents didn't want kittens, or fleas, so my dad took her about 3 miles down the road and dropped her off....she came back.

Not knowing what they were trying to do, I fed her again. Well, my dad finally filled me in. They just didn't want a cat. So, he took her 6 miles away, a couple days later she returned.

Determined not to have a cat, this time he took her 12 miles away... After about a week, certain she was gone this time, I was in the kitchen fixing lunch. There came the familiar "meow" from the deck...

My parents finally relented, as if they had a choice, as long as I was the one to give her a bath. Poor thing was so thin, I picked her up and could feel her ribs. She felt like she weighed 3lbs... She did not like the water. After much growling and hissing, she realized it had to happen. When I was done, she was more like 2 pounds of hair and 1 pound of skin and bones... What a site that was...

I had a paper route as a kid. We also had a Westhighland White Terrior that I would take on my route with me. Well, our new cat decided she was gonna follow along. From then on, she would follow us on my paper route. She would disappear at the end of the route, only to ambush the Westie in the farmer's field. She really loved that dog, and he only tolerated her.

She was an outdoor cat, and would greet you evertime you pulled into the driveway. The neighbours nicknamed her "killer cat". Apparently she had a habit of attacking dogs in the hood, but she always loved our Westie.

The irony of it all is she turned out to be the best damn cat we ever had. Yet she adopted us.

Well there is minimal news or progress to report. We have an investigator on the case, that took forever to even get started.

The wheels of LEGAL justice turn slow.

There was a funny thing the other day, a neighbor called, "the white truck is going down the road", we at the end of the road she called us, I ran out, the kids followed, we get out there and up to the road, so we could wave and these people who were looking at me like WTF is this guy doing, it was not our guy.

It is a horrible thing going on in your neighborhood. I am a very strong animal lover, and try to save some harmless insects if they wander in the house, but I would show no mercy to a human who makes the choice to hurt innocent animals.

Remember, it is not the birds' fault that their owner is poisoning animals, if you harm them, you are no better. I would however let all the birds go as partial payback. Help the birds, crush the owners.

I would then make it my full time job to catch these people in the act. Unfortunatly, justice in this country is a business and a joke, if they can pay caretakers, they can pay a fancy lawyer. If anything they will get a small fine for their actions, if it can be proved at all. Who is to say that a kid would not pick up the meat? It is nothing short of terrorism.

I would get together with the others who lost dogs, arm yourself for protection, then lay spike strips at night as others suggested. When they are sitting there with four flat tires and surrounded, tell them you will give them the benefit of the doubt and allow them to eat the meat they have, to prove their innocense. When they refuse, tell them about your losses, then introduce them to your new dogs, preferably large, mean ones of your choice. They will most likely soil themselves and admit to it.

From their is your call, I would let the dogs butcher them and say it was an accident that these dogs got out and were attracted to the meat in their car, replace the poisened meat with good stuff.

What a tragedy to the 2 old scumbags.

very slow imo,... and worth it.

at least at this point the complexities of the system prevent your hostilities from a false assumption of guilt. ;)

    Some updates:

It has not stopped, 2 more dogs and 1 cat have been poisoned, these are all on my road (dead end with 6 friggin houses) believe me, we have had it.

On July 20th, those who are “suspected” of doing this, were caught by my neighbor, out of their truck and walking up and down the road, she started towards them, they ran to their truck, turned around in a driveway, and were trying to leave when she caught up with them, you can imagine the exchange between a woman who has lost her dog and cat and these 2 mental cases, my neighbor was trying to get the attention of another neighbor and trying to keep them blocked in using her body, well she claims they “nearly ran her over” as they were leaving, Sheriff was called and all that.

To my surprise, the county DOES have an investigator on this case, and they came out on the 21st and found a bag of meat with strychnine! Last I heard it was sent off for finger prints and all that, so we might have something going here guys.

Thanks for all the support and good words.

Hopefully they will bag the rotten effers.

One good thing that I've noticed is (at least in SC) the courts are handing out pretty stiff penalties for animal abusers. That's good.

I dunno, I see both sides of the coin. My dog is our child and I think more of him than I do most people so if someone were to harm him and I got my hands on the scumbag but I also agree that we have to let the system work.

I hope they get the ****, Russ.

Bad news....good news. I'm very sorry to hear about more animals suffering at the hands of some very sick people. Something that may get them some real jail time is the possible assault with a deadly weapon. Has the lady pressed charges?

That's a purely emotional arguement and you'd deserve to go to jail just like the people that hurt your animals to begin with. I agree with Jesse 100%

How is something that is dead and not human worth endagering your life and the life of your family for no greater good worth the effort or cost?

I have 2 dogs. A golden retriever and a siberian husky. I love both of my dogs. If someone did something to them I'd prosocute them to the full extent of the law, but there is no way in hell I'l put myself or my family in danger by taking the law into my own hands. That is simply a moronic thing to do and the results could easily be far worse than losing a family pet.

I don't have much faith in our court systems either...so I'll give you that, but as I said....there is no sense in fighting for something that doesn't have a greater good. You can't bring back your dogs by beating someones ****. It's such a juvenile notion. We're not a country of savages.
