Dog killers - Time to get even

It would be hard to resist the temptation to get back at them--
But... Doing so would most likely backfire though and get you in trouble.
If you can get the right people involved and get some hard evidence-- like videotape-- They're in deep doo-doo anyhow.
Alerting the local media, I think, is an excellent suggestion.
I'm really sorry to hear this happened to you!
If I had one of those nightshot video cameras I'd send it to you, (I don't) but you'd still have to catch them in the act. Is the location where they're doing this a pretty limited area? They've been seen doing this?

I'm very sorry to hear about your Dog. Those sick **** are out of control and must be stopped. If anybody did that to my dog, I would have no choice but to get EVEN with them with my own brand of justice.

You're going to shoot some birds because humans poisoned your dog? Leave the freakin' birds alone and call the authorities. Sorry for your loss.
George Grand (of the Jersey Grands) -
Anyone willing to cause physical harm like this not only feels justified by their actions but enjoys the pain they cause. They also have long memories for even perceived retaliations being lodged against them. If you decide to take on these Aholes, find out everything you can about them. Be Smart about this and remove the emotion from your actions. The old man surly has some skeletons in his closet. A criminal records check on the the internet cost you only 20 bucks. Probably has some children that wont speak to him that would enjoy speaking to you. Maybe they spend time at city counsel meetings trying to control their neighborhood. Find out what is important to them and show their allies the kind of people they are and why they should not support any cause they are involved. Destroy them by destroying their reputation and you will not only have avenged the death of Victory but also have done your community a great service. Sorry for your loss.
Regards. -
Double post sorry

You read my mind George. This whole thing just sickens me but additional indiscrimate killing is not the answer. Get them on tape and go after them financially! Thats where it would hurt the most.
Russ, didn't you say you saw them throw meat from the truck? If so you know who so be patient and methodical and you and your neighbors will have justice.
Sorry bud.
Henry***WAREMTAE*** -
I agree with Russ on this. Take legal action...as tempting as it may be to do some destruction yourself. Your (and your neighbors) cases will lose all credibility if you go the vigilante route.

while we are on legal recources, without our collective Id's running wild, i'm thinking there has to be some town/zoning/health violation of some sort with a house full of birds. doesnt sound 100 percent legal to me. a call to your town's zoning board or something along those lines might be in order. might want to mention they keep poisoned food on their property (you mentioned this earlier, the expanded poisonings notwithstanding). that in itself doesnt sound to kosher either.Living Room 2 Channel -

I am all for causing them zoning problems for their "bird house". I strongly suspect that legally solving this problem will be next to impossible. Hmmm... legal justice. Ok... this is how I'd approach this thing. First off, I'd park my butt in front of the prosecuter's office and demand that this case be taken VERY SERIOUSLY. If they refuse, I would attempt to involve the media (as a last resort) to help with motivating them. Then, based upon the vet reports, I would try to get a search warrant. Once the matching poisen is identified in their house, then an arrest warrant needs to be issued. They will be out-on-bail in about 24 hours. Ask that the arrest warrant be issued on a Friday... that way, you get to keep them locked up for an entire weekend before they get arraigned in court. After a long, long, LONG time, a jury trial will happen. This is where you hope that warm-fuzzy photo of you and Victory will cause 12-people's conscience to come into play. Following all this effort, they would probably get 6 months in jail (suspended) and be on probation for a year. That is our legal solution. BTW, the people who poisened your dog already took all this into consideration.

Most people are animal lovers. I'd get the local newspaper involved and start applying political pressure. Newspapers LOVE these kind of stories--it sells papers and will work to your advantage.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

You're hurting man, and you're pissed off,
as a dog owner I would be too.
You've got problems now but you don't need trouble. Guns and ..... may seem like a quick fix, but it could get ugly.
First off, to catch a fox you've got to out fox him.
1. If it's a small town work together, every dog that has died mysteriously should be examined and if it's poison, documented.
That's evidence.
2. he must be buying the stuff somewhere, limited choices in a small town, put the word out and find out where he's buying it. Get some documentation as to purchases if possible.
3. If he's got caretakers, he may have a disgruntled caretaker who with a little booze or? may be willing to talk about what goes on.
4. Video cameras and walkie talkies are cheap. Work out a surveillance schedule with some of the neighbors, if the truck leaves the property at night have someone follow it.
5. Interview his neighbors, if anyone has actually seen him in the act of throwing meat out of his truck, that's an eye witness.
Russ, he's broken the law as far as inhumane treatment of animals, he could be brought up on crimminal charges.
If found guilty you could go after him with a personal lawsuit. If enough people file, put a lean against his house, and get him out of there.
But you've get to build a case, and that takes clear thinking, but it's the best way to take him down.
I feel for you man,
-Luc -
It makes me so upset to hear what happened. I don't know what Id do, it wouldn't be pretty.
My baby girl Meka.
Truly sorry. -
Hoosier that is one of the worst dog stories I have heard in recent years. I have no idea on what makes people tick anymore, but this world seems to gone **** in a handbasket over recent years.
What happened to a little respect for others and their properties? I know what I would be willing to do in a revenge situation, and I know I would have help doing it. BUT, unfortunately two wrongs do not make a right, and a cooler head going to the authorities may be the better option. When it comes to dogs you are talking about basically killing someones family member, and the authorities should deal with it as they see fit, and hopefully swiftly.
I am sorry to hear about you and your neighbors losses, and I hope justice is served in your own eyes in whatever way you see as the correct action. -
my vote is for the old school street justice, you wont be satisfied with what the sheriff does. i can't believe that someone would do this, im sitting here with my golden sami and i would murder the **** who poisoned him. im pissed off just reading this story, and seeing the pictures of the dogs makes it even worse. MAYBE i could understand trying to get rid of animals that weren't pets and were becoming a problem but not someones pet!! thats outright wrong!
someone was spraying my dog in the face with ammonia, and i swear to god if i ever catch the **** that does that ( and i have an idea of who it is) i will beat him within an inch of his life.
what is it with old men and animals? the old men in our neighboorhood have no respect fo any animals. theres a guy that sits in his yard with a gun shooting squirls because they dig holes in his perfect lawn. shoots cats too, my cat has a BB in his ear, gee wonder how it got there.
good luck! and keep us updated
EDIT:sorry got a little excited -
An old guy in my neighborhood takes walks around the block carrying a golf-club driver. If any dog approaches him, he's going to take a swing. Hope the dog grabs that driver from his hand and gives him a good bite.
-
It's terrible that the dog was poisoned. It's unlikely someone used poison to kill a dog that was confronting them at that moment. A planned killing.
It bears little resemblance to an old boy and his right to walk unmolested in his own neighborhood. I have found the hard way, that in my town, errant dog owners who don't exercise proper control over their animals, seem to have more rights than my right to walk my 19 yr old handicapped daughter in her stroller. In my case it was a bull mastiff. That's 150 lbs of dog man. So maybe the old guy has had a prior experience and decided his right to not get hurt is pretty important to him. If anyone thought I would ever wait until my daughter was bitten before I completely eliminated that threat, they would be mistaken. It's not getting close to her.

I'm a pet owner and I love my pet (most of the time), but some of you guys need to rethink your priorities. Taking a persons life or beating them up over a pet?!? Sorry that doesn't wash. Of course I would exhaust every legal action possible, but part of the problem is many laws relating to animals, such as dogs, only view them as property... Highly unlikely there would be any legal resolution beyond buying a new dog(s).
Hardly a satisfactory resolution for me...RTi70 Fronts

Nutty, so are you. So am I... But it's also proven that humans can develop an attachment to a pet as close as they can to another human.
Perhaps you could have a little respect and leave it in the other forum? But I doubt you're mature enough to GET that...RTi70 Fronts

larvae, the reason you're not respected on this forum has nothing to do with anyone else. You chose to put yourself out there as you have, and now have to deal with everyone disrespecting virtually anything you drone on about......comment comment comment comment. bitchy.

The thing about maturity is you either have it or you don't. I do, you don't. You have neither the moral nor legal right to harm/kill another human unless in self defense, that's it.
Russ and I have talked, he knows how bad I feel about what is going on there, he also knows how to keep a level head about all. That is maturity!
Are you getting it yet??? :rolleyes:Political Correctness'.........defined

Hoosier,
I'm very sorry about your loss ... this is one of the worst stories like this I've heard and I can only imagine how outraged I'd be and what I might be tempted to do if I were in your shoes.
Just keep in mind when searching for a remedy or revenge that the last thing your family needs now is to lose another family member. Better to stay within the confines of the law then not. -
Nutty, there is always a point where moral/legal rights get thrown out the window. You just have to willing to pay the price if you're caught.
Most laws are effed up, i.e., in most states you have the legal right to shoot someone who breaks into your home to steal your property...
There are always grey areas that laws will never be able to address for everyone. When there's no longer any redress from the law, that's when one has a decision to make.
If one considers a pet a family member, then they are acting in defense of the family.RTi70 Fronts

as far as beating them up, if he wasnt old, i WOULD kick his ****
as far as im concerned a dog is simply an adopted sibling
i dont consider them to be property at all
thing is laws do...
not only what that old man did can be harmful to animals, but as someone had already mentioned, what if some kid picked up that piece of meat?
what if HE got it into his digestive system?
what if HE got terribly ill?
and worst of all, what if HE died?
think about it...a small kid can weigh A LOT less than some of the dogs that were murdered, therefore it can get to them a lot faster than it could a dog...and he said himself that his dog only showed signs that something was wrong the day before he died
please dont take this the wrong way, im not lashing out at you, i just take a firm stand on this and i will not budge, but thats the great thing about America...we all have our opinions:)
all in all, i hope that you can get some firm evidence and put that guy away for as long as you can

f1nut, you have obviously not been emotionally attached to a dog in the way that we are. thats fine, its your opinion, but please dont try to make it seem childish to become attached to a pet.
i dont think we should turn this thread into an argument about pets being property or members of the family. to each his own, lets get back to providing as much help as we can.
