I'm going to need at least 16. (SDA 1.2TL, 3.1TL,1C, CRS+, RTA 15tl) I have to check on other pairs of speakers.

    Got you down.

Have a question for you. Besides a larger sound stage presence of 3.1's, do you feel that the 15TLs have the same overall dynamics as the 3.1TL's?

I have not made any direct comparisons since they're 2 completely different designs.
The RTA 15tl based on their D'appolito design would have more dynamic range in my opinion.

Thanks for doing these, Rob. Bit the billet, too. Seems like a great addition to the standard upgrade paths.

@F1nut - beautiful result with the anodizing. Takes these plates to another level. Could one send an order of plates to your anodizer? What color is that? Hopefully has some pretentiously audiophile-y name, and not just "Dark Grey", which would likely not impart any comparatively improved sonic quality, unlike the guarantee of the former.

Scott, sure anyone could send their plates to the place that did mine. It's the standard black anodizing, but I used a technique invented by another member to remove the tooling marks, which results in the silky smooth appearance.

Maybe when Rob gets these done we can get that tool making it’s rounds so the members that would like to can do the same before they send them off to being anodized.

I can supply the scotchbrite pads..

I ordered an extra 10 plates to machine, including mine. If a set of 1.2's land on this homestead, no promises made. :)

Well I'm waiting for @dromunds to get it to me so I can get @bcwsrt's done and send his and mine up to Chicago to get anodizing done.

I told @dromunds to send it to you and ask @Toolfan66 how to use it.

I sent you a video. I found that using the Scotch-Brite Type A Very Fine pad was all that was needed. In other words, no need to use the course pad first.

I polished one to a near-mirror finish before. Think I used 600 grit sponge pad by hand, then black rouge on buffing wheel.

    I can make them XS-11TL's ;)

Got you down for a set.

I'm still wondering why Polk didn't switch the MWs to 6516's in the 11TLs like they did for the 8TLs.

Dude I'm betting they knew a thing or two..... Like cabinet volume or port vs passive.....you know small inconsequential things like that...

Thank you for having me down.

I agree, must be bass-related. Out of the box the 6516's produce a better midrange than 6510's.

I used the same diamond insert on this batch as I did for the seismic ball isolators.

    Very close to mirror finish...

Nice work. Have you ever thought about machining the "Polk Audio" lettering on these?

Off the top of my head there may be a copyright problem with that.

What @VR3 did with his lazer etching for the Monoliths build was the epitome of badging IMO.
