One of the voice coils in a mw6500 for my 7b is shot - ohms at infinity - any chance you want to sell some of your 'spare parts'?

Well since 4 of my speakers take mw6500 I really don't want to sell my 2. I have one that I replaced with a close match but I don't recall what mw65xx it is, maybe someone knows off hand. It's in one of my m4a.
I wish you luck in finding one.

Don't know where you are but this single m10 probably has a mw6500

If I owned the Peerless lineup you have, given my current list of projects, I'd stash them away for parts. Unless you are interested in experimenting with the original cabinet design, you have nothing to gain. I don't see a need to build a pair just to compare them to the 7s.

Thanks for the advice all. I found a local shop willing to sell me a lone mw6502 for $30. I'm simply going to install and have a mismatched pair while I keep looking for another m6500...

Not to be negative but that is going to be a horrific mismatch. The 6502 is 4 ohm nom. impedance and 6500 is 8.

You're better off with a 6503 or 6510. Do not install the 6502. That local shop should be ashamed for selling it.

I have a 6500 that is jb welded. There is a scratching in the voice coil. Is it something that can be repaired?

Indeed. We're currently deciphering the 6500 enigma in the magnet jig/repair thread...

I will be doing the uber mods to the ones I start collecting and rebuilding, but I will post a how-to thread soon.

I am surprised, as long as the Vintage Polk Mid-woofers have been around, that someone does not have in depth T/S parameters for Every variation made back then.

That list ^^ doesn't have the 6500, but we have this, which doesn't have BL or Compliance. Very curious where these data come from. If we had access to testing equipment like @DarqueKnight has, we could come up with *some* of the missing TS parameters, and verify some of the others.

    Driver: MW 6500 Driver's model #.
    Brand: Polk Driver's brand name.
Fs: 31.0000 Hz (Free air resonance)
    Vas: 2.6486 ft^3 (Compliance volume)
    Qts: 0.2190 Total Q
    Qms: 1.3000 Mechanical Q
    Qes: 0.2640 Electrical Q
    Sd: 0.0130 M^2 (Piston area)
Xmax: 3.1800 mm (Cone excursion, linear)
    Revc: 6.5000 ohms (DC resistance)
    Znom: 8.0000 ohms (Nominal impedance)
Pmax: 35.0000 watts maximum rated power
