My in-laws just cut the cord. They decided to buy a 65” Samsung and signed up for a couple streaming services (Netflix and Disney plus). I set up a digital antenna for them. They get over 100 over the air channels and with the new tv, Samsung offers a free proprietary streaming service with over 250 television, movie and music channels. It was good enough to get me thinking to do the same!!!

I was surprised on my Sony TV that the OTA digital channels automatically have a program guide with current and future programming set up similar to having a cable TV box's program guide. With so many channels available for almost no effort that's a nice feature to have.

I will say broadcast HDTV for local network channels still blows away anything on cable or streaming services for picture quality.

Vastly better due to no compression, all others have mpeg4 compression.
I had an older tv the showed bit rates for the incoming signal. I had Dish HD and a 35' tower with a deep fringe Channel Master antenna. The same show between Dish and the antenna the antenna had bit rates that could be 10x that of the Dish HD signal.
Everything about the antenna shows better sound, better picture by far!

Totally agree Ivan. I recently watched Adele "One Night Only" on PBS Public Broadcast and the sound quality was fabulous!

I just bought a closeout indoor-outdoor one from Lowes
I got 34 channels just hooking it up inside (it has a stand).
I'm most likely going to put it in the attic. All the cable connections
Go up there to a distribution amp that is no longer in use.
Now looking for a roku box.

Ok, so I have one of those 300 ohm to coax push on adapters
They used to include with old TVs. I have two short pieces of wire
Screwed on the end. Got almost as many channels.
They used to sell them at RadioShack for a couple of bucks.
So if you still have one, go cheap.
It just might be enough for those local must have stations.

Update: When I did a broadcast TV scan on the Samsung TV, it automatically
Mapped Samsung TV plus channels. The remote guide button brings up the
Plus channels. There's a lot of content there and it was painless to get.
As long as the set has internet the process is painless. The mrs figured it out pretty
Quick, so it is EASY. I've still got Netflix for now, but plan on dropping it soon.
I just signed up for a free year of Fox nation.
Qvc, a ton of cooking channels and a bunch of clones of normal cable channels.
As long as she's happy it's all good.
