Walnut veneer is very classy, love the matte black baffle. I do think a round tweeter faceplate like the reserve would look better.
The midrange circuit has two iron core inductors in series to the mid driver. Ceramic resistors. Just changing these items would have a positive impact on the sound for sure.
A good portion of the parts makes up some series notch filters, I would say unless you were going all out, just updating the resistors and the electrolytic cap being used is OK in a target mod.
Definitely one of Polks more complex crossovers

Fairly neutral with alot of bass. Was surprised by the lack of staging outside of the speakers but they are new so that should improve a bit as they break in 😁- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Are you gonna mod them after you have a chance to listen to the stock version for a while?

These are not mine but I do believe we will mod them!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Did you just pry the ring off to get the driver out?Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me

Nice! I have never heard any VR3 mods but still hope to someday, so I’m glad to see the mods continuing!
-
What kind of a fool would have you upgrade a speaker's crossovers before ever having heard them in stock form?
-
(It was me. I drop shipped them to Trey from A4L - $999 refurb pair!)

Sand cast resistors be gone!

I'm not everything will fit, duelund caps are bigger than the enclosure.

Can you make the crossover's outboard storage shed look like this?

So -- I'm just curious -- if/when all y'all replace the iron core inductors with air core, how close do the replacement inductors match the DCR of the originals? Seems like there's quite a bit more copper wire (length) in the air core coils compared to the iron (or permalloy or whatever) cored originals, so - presumably - it's essential to use air coil inductors with really (really!) large-gauge wire to keep the DCR, umm, competitive?
Speaking of air core inductors -- I've developed a taste for these rascals. I was able to convince myself that I heard a difference (to wit, an improvement) when I swapped them in (yes, using clip leads, of course -- I am me, after all...) for some normal perfect-lay wound wire air core inductors in the Frankenaltecs.
The Goertz foil coils aren't cheap, but they're also not frighteningly expensive... and I do like their purposeful appearance They look like they mean business.
Perhaps kinda big for L200s, tho'.

I was able to find an exact dcr match from mundorf. If I recall it is 12 or 14 awg, can't recall off hand.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Foil inductors do have a particular sound, I like them but sometimes hard to find dcr matches in that variety- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

I used them in my Silverlines. But then, anything was an improvement over the Jantzen inductors/Solen caps combo that was in there originally. Fortunately, SonicCraft still had foil inductors at the time that were close enough dcr matches for me."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

The bass could be described as flatulent! 😂Can you make the crossover's outboard storage shed look like this?Alea jacta est!
-
The "wood-winds" would sound pretty realistic. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
-
Copper, only 2 of the four iron cores on the board... Would be an extremely large crossover with all air core inductors... Definitely would have to go external!

@VR3
How’d you get the rings off? Maybe I should try a smaller crow bar??
I’ve got the L100’s and will put a pic of those parts in a post but I don’t want to make a mess either.Aaron
