Back on the market for new speakers

Years ago, I’ve had a set of Polk RTI a7s which i think, sounded great. Now I’m looking at the Lsim 705’s as i can get a pair for 1200.

First: Do these speakers sound dramatically different? As in, would it be worth the difference in cost to be considered to jump from the RTI a7/a9 to LSIM? Listening will be 50/50 music/movies, etc... I have a monolith amp from my previous setup to power whatever i decide to get. So power won’t be an issue. Has to be towers. I don’t like bookshelf speakers in a living room. My wife also prefers towers.

Looking for opinions from people who’ve owned or had both (a/b comparison). It’ll help a lot. Again, I’m familiar with the A7 sound but not the Lsim. Freight charges for return shipping are stalling my purchase of the 705!

Appreciate any feedback I receive.

Just a heads up 705 are $1500 from Polk right now. I am assuming $1200 is not brand new.

They sound very different as most speakers do. If you liked the 7's and that amp for music I'll take it you like a very bright top end, which would mean the LSiM isn't for you.

I don’t like very bright. I cannot stand klipsch. I do like a lot of air and detail. Exactly how laid back are the Lsim?

I keep thinking that Adorama will have one more sale on the 705’s but who knows. Slickdeals website is the place to keep checking as they do the Adorama sale. I was thinking maybe after Polk is done with their half off sale they’ll move what’s left to Adorama. The 705’s were around $800 for awhile free shipping.

I like air and detail. I currently run GoldenEar’s in my main rig which is all of that.

I previously had the 705’s and was one of my bigger regrets selling them. I now have the 703’s in my other system and have never been happier with that system.

It is really an outstanding speaker to listen to, and depending on your taste a beautiful one to look at.

At $1,200 they are a great deal. At sub $1,000 they are a literal steal.

I would recommend you give the Triangle Borea BR03 speakers a try. Paired with a sub, they are a very, very, good full range option.
