I have an account over there, if you log in, it will be there. :)

I agree, this is an audio forum and it should remain audio-focused. And, I think it largely has. There are only one or two threads about the virus running currently AFAIK, and a few thrown in such as "Good News" and the picture thread.

Should we keep it more audio-focused? That's Polk's/Ken's decision. Although I think we've found a nice balance of stereo to the Clubhouse as a whole. :)

Edit: Just counted, there are 5 Corona related threads on the first page of recent discussions, two of which are largely positive and the rest are neutral.

For those that don't have an account with Audiocircle.

This is still an audio site

Folks, we understand this is a trying time for all and we've been doing our best to allow discussions about the current predicament to proceed. However, we need co-operation from everybody to keep going.

First, please remember that is still an audio site. So that is the main topic we want to see here. Perhaps consider that it would be nice to have a place to come where you don't have to keep reading about Coronavirus? So while we're allowing all these threads about Coronavirus, please try to not let it ruin this site as well as everything else.

With that said, we understand that discussion about the situation is important, especially since we have members here with qualifications and first-hand experience. If you're not one of those, consider that you should be reading their information, asking them questions and giving them your support instead of just stating your own opinions. Please consider whether your post is contributing helpfully to the discussion before pressing Submit. Do NOT post anything that is or could be construed as politically motivated, ill informed (whatever crap you read on the Internet), proof by linking (posting a link without any explanation of your own, and especially if the link is to a politically motivated article), racist, or just plain whacko (some government is testing bio warfare blah blah).

Admin will pre-emptively remove posts like the above or any others that we think might sidetrack the thread into Quarantine or Intergalactic Waste. We don't have the time or energy to argue with you about every single damn thing we do, we're only trying to keep things running productively so if you decide to kick up a stink about something like that or keep doing it we'll just close your account. There's only so much we can do.

Finally, sponsors and Faciliators hosting non-audio threads should be aware that we may remove your circle from the home page index if we feel it's causing us too much work or working against the goal of keeping discussion on the site overall productive. We're trying to help but the primary responsibilty for keeping any such threads on track is yours.

    Thank you

All I can say to that is, be careful what ya wish for.

Underneath the header for the Clubhouse, what does it say ?

A place to talk about your day. Doesn't say your audio day.

If by only allowing posts about audio in the clubhouse, threads like Luthers losing his job wouldn't exist. Picture threads gone, unless it's audio related. Anyone asking about appliances, gone. Furniture repair, Cars and those related posts, planes, bikes, scenery. Get well threads, joke threads.....be even more boring around here.

I get the few virus threads may not be some of yours cup of tea, and that's cool. However the same thing goes for every other thread you have no interest in....don't click on it. Is it that hard ?

I think it’s great that this forum has a space dedicated to things unrelated to audio. It’s easy enough to not go to the clubhouse if you don’t wanna see that stuff. Just my 2c!

it's a little bit different over there as each manufacturer can have their own circle and thus police them first just like a moderator.

I agree with what tonyb said above. I can't say it any better.

We are not robots and because we allow threads with other topics, we know more about each other. Knowing each other allows us to become "friends" to support each other and to be frank when needed.

I can't imagine having to "tip toe" around asking yourself if what one is posting is out of line.

    NO! is my answer.

My guess is that "Polk" (the powers that be here, whoever constitutes "Polk" in a corporate way nowadays) are allowing some current 'difficult' threads to survive because they know that folks need to blow off some steam nowadays. My guess is that if things get ugly enough and/or if enough "reports" are received - those threads'll go the way of... they way of...
getting up in the morning and commuting to the office...
or going to school (at school).

You think it's bad here, the Hoffman forum is on Wuhan virus thread number 9 having deleted the others. It's basically a liberal circle jerk with different opinions causing melt downs of epic portions.

    Corrected the number of threads.

I hear ya Marv, and yeah sometimes it gets aggravating but, that's what spirited discussion is all about. We can't start discarding the voices we don't like, it isn't Russia or China.....yet, I hope. Everyone should have a chance to voice their opinions, just like audio. As long as things remain civil, I see no reason we can't discuss current affairs.

A major part of the value of this forum is discussing things other than audio. This forum is like one big audio family....and that is a major part of its allure. If the clubhouse was gone and we could only talk about audio, the "family" aspect of this forum would go as well.

If we just stuck to audio, this place would be pretty boring.

Absolutely agree. While my interest in audio is important I have come here for the vast amounts of knowledge from people in all walks of life and or trades. If I need advise for help with plumbing, electrical, car repairs, deck stains, general home repairs etc CP is my "go to" first. Just sayin'....

This forum IMO gives a sense of community.

Audio for sure, but life in general. Family. When I first joined, I hit the clubhouse a lot, as it gave me a sense of the folks here. Get a chance to know them a bit more. Learn from them. Over time, I felt like I got to know them well, even though I’ve never really met them in person.

On the few occasions when I finally did get to meet some of you in person, it was like I finally had a chance to connect with a long time buddy.

Sure sometimes we don’t get along. We argue. Fight. Name call. You name it. But over time, all is forgiven. Isn’t that what families do?

And the banter. All in good fun. Like brothers going at it.

That’s why CP is such a special place to me.
