So I'm starting to learn more and more about tube vibration, and the potential negative effect on audio. Learned a new word, microphonics.
Makes sense to me, install a dampening device to counteract any vibration the tube may endure. In mechanical engineering, we do that all the time!

Thanks Verb. It’s a mixed bag. Depending on how they test, microphonics show up. Usually older tubes naturally but if your rocking dual subwoofers...they may appear because of you. Yup. Fascinating subject that I never knew applied to audio equipment.
Mass dampers are typically a compromise solution, where only a certain range of frequencies are targeted for attenuation. In reality, a real time adjustable damping system would cover everything, but, as you suspect, very expensive.
