Audi S4 running better then expected at the Track

Hello all,
my Son and I went to the Track to test out the S4 to see how she will run in stock form with just a Cold Air intake on it. New Tires oil change, transmission service and 40k on the clock and down to the track we went.
First pass was a shocker at 12.6@109. WOW what a run, my son got excited and went right back as I told him you need to allow the car to cool down before the next pass but he wanted to see what a second pass hot would do. It still screamed 12.9 @108 . The last pass on it was a16.6 @110 which was a .001 off from a 12.5. This car is fantastically fast especially for being factory stock with a cold air. Amazingly good car.jod9lidakv3f.jpg

Nice time. Pump up the front tires for less drag.

That’s a great engine in the S4, and it’s capable of more with easy changes. And there is much more that can be done with a bunch of money. May be best to keep it as a daily driver setup though.

Is this the supercharged version or the newer twin turbo? I had the supercharged engine in my 2012 and it was an absolute joy to drive.

That’s the supercharged engine. Same engine I have in an SQ5, although Audi did tweak the output for various applications. A very smooth and responsive engine and transmission combo. I understand why they went for the turbocharged version in more recent cars. Marginal fuel economy gains. I prefer no turbo lag, even if it’s minor.

When I saw the thread title I got excited, but then I see by "track" you meant "drag strip". :'(

We ran 2lbs over stock for a tight smooth run. But it did spin all 4 tires on the launch just a bit.

Having a 12 second daily without having to put drag radials on is amazing. We might give it a stage 1 Tune and an competitive exhaust and call it a day. The tune alone adds 100 HP which is absolutely nuts as back in my day that was not the case.

It's supercharged. Check out the photo above of the engine bay. The supercharger sits right on top of the engine.

Does the SQ5 come with a Double Clutch Transmission? It's probably the very fastest shifting transmissions I ever drove. Right from the factory it is completely awesome.

Nope I meant Track. Thats what we call it around these parts. no one around here I know calls it a drag strip or drag way. It's called the track.
