Clark over at Blumenstein and I have been passing emails for a bit and I ordered a pair of these awhile back. Clarks had some shop issues and hasn't finished the ones I ordered but was gracious enough to send, at no charge to me, a pair of the new Orca's with the special driver. I've got the old style in caramel bamboo with the special drivers ordered - should be here in a month or so.

No...there is no bass. I still need to break these in and then I'll measure them up but if you expect anything under 100hz - tough crap. Sub woofer required.

However...
I'm running these on the Bottlehead Stereomour modified for 45 tubes. Soundstage is amazing, the speakers disappear. Voicing is perfect. These are really nice speakers.

The bamboo has some very nice grain to it. Beautifully finished.

Gorgeous! I love ALL the Blumenstein cabinets.

I just finished a speaker using the slightly bigger brother to FE83En - the 4.5" FE126En and like it a lot. Here it is beside the (@mhardy6647 recommended) 5.25" Radio Shack 40-1354. The RS is a bit less efficient and cabinet a bit larger, but adds ~20Hz bottom. Wish I could find a local source for that bamboo plywood.

    Sweet!
"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it.
