    I was born in Detroit ('66) but later I lived in Souhfield from '06 until '12 when the company I work for relocated to NW Indiana. I've been with them since around '07 and they were originally based in Brighton, MI. Its a family owned Austrian company that makes high end digital welders, battery chargers, and solar inverters...basically we shape / harness power. They came to the US around '02 and landed in Brighton due to the high number of robotics, automotive companies and suppliers in Metro Detroit. At that time we had one of the few niche specialty market digital welders out there. Nevertheless, I currently work in the Tech support Department on the Solar side. I started out in the welding and solar repair center. I have friends and family that work in the auto industry in Metro Detroit such as yourself.

    This is an old video but you can see the Headquarters in Indiana. We went from about 40,000 Sq ft in MI to 400,000 sq ft in IN. We did manufacture the solar inverters here for the US market for a short while. However, the markets in some areas around the world changed (we're in about 60 Countries) and the line shutdown. All are still made in Austria now. We sold the other half of the building as we never used it.

    Yep, that my big dome! The other fellow in the picture that did much of the narration in the video is a Metro Detroiter as well. We worked together previously at MGM Grand Casino back in'02-'04 for me....he was my Manager back then. He since has moved on to another company.

    Day 2 of repairing walls. Stripping wallpaper is not only tedious, but it leaves little divots all over the walls that have to repaired. Ugh. Hope to get the walls finished and primer put on today.

    At least I got the secondary rig upstairs to keep me company! :smile: Rocking Tidal through the phone and Audioengine BT streamer!

    I took what came off easily with a remover and pealed off manually. What was left I hit with an orbital sander run over the entire wall. Then I patched what needed to be patched and sanded again by hand. It was a royal pain in the backside,

    Had I known that simply inviting Russ over could have done that work in about 90 seconds....

    And yes, removing wallpaper is the WORST. No wonder the dumbasses that previously owned our home just painted over it in what used to be the dining room. And once its painted over you may as well just put up new dry wall as try to take that s#!t down. We just ended up painting several more coats with flat paint and it looks pretty good.

    Wallpaper, one of the dumbest inventions EVER!

    Another thing. Today is the last time I ever clean my gutters. Two story home, multiple levels, with Willows and Pines just dumping their offspring all the time. Mid 80s today, on the roof, climbing ladders, waiting for the bathroom spackling to dry.

    IMO that is a game for the younger folks out there. Professionals. Man I'm beat. And yes, sans safety equipment. Idiot.

    Next time, I'll happily pay a company to do it! :smile:

    I did this to my lower about a month ago and could not believe how clogged they were. I'm too chicken to do the upper. I think I need to pay a guy to do them and then get gutter guards.

    Week 2 begins. The Mrs decided to go back to work this week. Not me! Here is my progress so far, after the upstairs bathroom, main priority is finish up the kitchen! :smile:

    Warren Tech Center was always fun to make customer visits to. The week pretty much consisted of a loop, Auburn Hills, Warren, Southfield, and the occasional run to Ann Arbor.

    Well today is my last day of Shutdown. Back to work tomorrow! But, here is my list. I can say that the biggest did not do was finishing the kitchen, so that will be a priority.

    Overall, the Mrs is very happy, especially since the guest bathroom upstairs is all complete and ready for the granite delivery next week.

    Man I'm beat! :smile: But, I feel great!
