I will be 70 this year, and have worked full time since I was 18 at a variety of jobs. The company I was working for was purchased last summer, and they are still trying to understand the area I worked in. While I had planned to retire when I hit 70 the new company had a Reduction In Force last October, but I was asked to stay until the end of April. Fine by me. With the bonuses for staying I at least equaled my pay to September which is when I hit 70.

Anyway, now I have to find something to do the rest of my life. LOL. However, I am not doing squat for the next month. :)

Thanks all. I am sure it will take a bit of time to grasp I really don’t have to go to work. Glad I don’t have expensive hobbies, or addictions. Of course I did buy a Lumin X1 as a retirement present, but that’s it. No more. :)

I'm glad you made it to 70.
I think you'll be set for life with SS and whatever I hope. Yard work and gardening keeps the blood flowing. Put up some bird houses and watch birds raise the next generations. It's a blast to see the little guys still want to be fed by momma and daddy but the parent birds teach them real quick where the feeders are and the water and where to find their own bugs and worms.

Our Chickadees had one baby I think. A few days ago I saw the baby up on a branch by the driveway just 15ft. from the nesting box it was probably born in. It was flapping its little wings and chirping but no momma or daddy came running. I guess it's on its own for good now. B)

Go to yard sales and thrift stores and also estate sales. Check the yard sales and estate sales online first though. Good will and habitat is a hit and miss adventure.

Just think...you can do what you want, when you want!

Late night movie, no problem! Stay up as late as you want. :D

I hope you can enjoy your retirement. Many people never get to. ;)

Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Yes. It is time to look at the real world. I have been in high-tech ever since Navy tests said I had an aptitude for electronics, and they sent me to school. Frack that. Time to smell the roses. :)

Congrats, I'm sure you will enjoy it. What amazes me is how fast the weeks go by in retirement.

I now hardly ever go shopping on the weekends now as I can go during the week when I'm not fighting the weekend mob. It also great to not fight the traffic going to and from work everyday.

    LOL!

Time to plant and grow some roses!

Nancy did it here but she was working full time and she just got into other things and lost a bunch of bushes. She did have a SPORT branch that she's been tending to for years but it's still not producing enough of these strange and rare blooms to cultivate more plants. She had planned on naming this new rose after her father. But the hope has come and pretty much gone. The bush is still alive but it's just a little fighter and doesn't die. I'll get a pick of it now if I can.

You can see it to the left of the bird feeder. It's been like that for 10 years I guess. :D
It used to be a bush and then this one branch sprouted out and it had different blooms. It was COOL! Nancy was excited for a few years. Nancy still has hope though.
