I meant heading over to your buddies and checking them out. Not purchasing them and upsetting your Wife so she boots you out. Or buy them tell her they are Lightmans, and he will eventually pick them up. I did that before I have a couple of items that are his but they really are not. :D

From what I’ve read on this forum, all the ladies love Russ. That’s why he’s not allowed at my house...womanizer!!!

Naah, not in that kinda way. Russ is a likeable dude, I'll give him that. Been too long too, gotta catch up with the man. Hangin' with Russ is a blast.

    Marv,

Dude, lol....you need to pay attention bro. :)

The M4's seem to be getting some good press, which is why I asked for opinions from those who had ears on them. One person compares them to Maggies, but with better bass. Now that peaked my interest.

Still, have to get over to my buddies to hear them, but he's a bit on the strange side so that's why I'm hesitant.

Basically , yeah. The spatials are suppose to be an improvement on that open baffle design.

I went from LSI15's to LSIM705's to Spatial M4 Triode Masters and I am done changing speakers for a long time. I made a cross country move and had to sell the LSI15's so I bought the 705's. The 705's were a little big for the room I had to put them in so I took a chance on the Spatials.
I am using a CODA amp that puts out the first 25 watts in Class A with a Linear Tube Audio MZ2S as the preamp and IMO this system is very good. The speakers average 12 ohm and 93 db so I don't leave class A very often which I think really helps for sound quality.
The soundstage is very wide and they image like crazy. The only drawback on these speakers is they don't go real deep on bass. I don't feel a need for a sub but some might. The room they are in is 10' by 20' and the 705's were pretty boomy on bass. With the OB Spatial speakers there is no booming to the bass and while it doesn't go as deep as the 705's, the bass sounds very natural. I did try a Cary Rocket 88 tube amp with the Spatials but the base was sort of wooly sounding so I went with the SS CODA amp and it made a huge difference.

Thanks for that, how would you say they do on classic rock ? Is there any genre of music they don't do well on ?

Welcome to Club Polk @Aldopolk . These are speakers I’d really like to try out. I’ve had Magnepan speakers since forever and lately I have been considering downsizing to something a little less visually imposing. And it would not hurt to have something easier to drive, as well. Thanks for the review.

I don't listen to much classic rock but I have tried them cranked on some Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Tom Petty and they can wail. Very little distortion at high SPL's with my system. I have not heard anything that they won't play well.

Thanks. I just took a leap of faith and ordered them on line after talking to Clayton Shaw the owner. I am glad I did.
