Monitor7b crossover new caps and resistors

Myself and my 18 yr old Son did a project together today on his new to him Monitor7bs, they are near perfect and deserve some love. I have to say we listened to them for several months prior to the upgrades and they sound really good for 37 years young, a testament to good design. The parts I chose for this upgrade kind of buck the norm here on the forum because I like to experiment and let my ears do the talking. I chose Jantzen 12uf cross caps and Jantzen standard Z 33uf we also replaced the resistors with mills mra12 4.5 and Jantzen 2.7 10 we also replaced the binding posts with Parts Express. The whole objective here was to keep the costs down. The thing that we did that was unusual was to add bypass caps to both main capacitors they both are 0.01uf Cornell Dubilier 3000v film simply a test to see how bypass caps will effect the voicing if any (we can always remove them) we plan to give them some time to burn in and get back to the forum with our impression.twp65xbvvwjd.jpg
