    Believe it or not, with the right cables, this rig can be transformed from headache inducing to slightly listenable. With the b&k I got from @scubalab it actually sounds reasonably good for a "garage" rig. Is it great, no, but it sure as hell is fun!

    Sweet garage rig, had alot of respect for cv when I needed with pro audio, they actually have some really nice upper end PA speakers

    My first speakers I went and had taken out a loan for were Cerwin Vega D-7's. I eventually bought some Peerless (non-polk type) tweeters and boy that and some XO work and them funsasitches were FUN. God i must of went through 50.00 in fuses over the life of them. Sold them in 2010 for 300.00 and they still are alive and bringing down the garage.

    Those D-9's really take the juice to keep that 15" from being flabby bass to my ears. I would of but thise back then except my Yamaha ax900 integrated amp really made the D-7's sound better.

    I re-foamed the surrounds myself.
    This is a picture from the web. They have a felt speaker face around the speakers. They're really cool looking and retro 80s I think.

    Those SE's came out late 80's or early 90's IIRC. They were pretty darned good and yes they loved high power.

    Full disclosure - there is a pair of Cerwin-Vega! speakers here. Given to us by a family friend; I refoamed the woofer & they served our son well for his high school years.

    They're someplace in the basement here, now.

    I had a big pair of CV’s in my garage rig for a couple of years. I think they had 15” woofers. First reform job I did and they came out great. Had them hooked up to my HK 730 analog receiver. They did well with hip hop and rock. Thanks for sharing.

    I had some D9's a few years back. They were fun speakers. Not good for any critical listening but they could really put out the SPLs. Paired with a NAD 2600 amp, they could get to ear splitting volumes.

    My brother bought some huge CV! speakers back in the '90's when Highland Electronics was going out of business.

    Eventually, many years later, he asked @SCompRacer to sell them for him. The next speakers he purchased were the Von Schweikert VR2's that I sold to him.

    Those two speakers aren't even close in sound quality are they? From party speakers to super high quality speakers... :p

    I've never heard a Von Schweikert speaker set yet but have read a bit about them.
    Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

    When I was a kid, a friend's parents had a set of CV speakers and I remember being amazed at how much bass they put out and how loud they got.

    I've always found CV's to be bass-shy (eyes-rolling).

    I refoamed a pair of AT-15's for a friend and we used C&C Music Factory's "Everybody Dance Now" to test them out. If you want kick-in-the-gut bass, that's a great tune try. The Vega's did not disappoint rocking the foundation.
