Mrs. H and I went birding on a Mass Audubon weekend trip to Nantucket Island (off the coast of MA) in the dead of winter, years ago. One night when we were there we ate... at the airport restaurant... at the Nantucket airport.
Now, that's not the weird part (and it was a perfectly decent meal, as I recall).
This is the weird part.
Some years before the above-mentioned dinner, there used to be a semi-hit TV sitcom called Wings that was set... at the airport on Nantucket. The precise airport in the show ("Tom Nevers Field") was fictional, although I think some of the exteriors may have been filmed at the real Nantucket airport.
If you remember the show at all, one of the characters ("Helen", per wiki-p) was the proprietor of the airport restaurant.
The real restaurant was remarkably similar in appearance to the restaurant. Just to ensure that the surreality wasn't lost on a casual diner or visitor (like me) one wall had a large poster showing the show's bad guy, Roy Biggins, in a campaign poster for (I can't remember what? Probably selectman) that was in the show.
One halfway expected to see Tony Shalhoub, Thomas Haden Church, or Tim Daly come strollin' in.

They now have the polls at big arena in the local elementary school. No lines lots of voting stations.
I liked it when my neighbor hosted the polls. My son loved it, brat made money selling refreshments and my driveway for parking. Neighbors kids got in the act too, bummer they moved it back to the schools.When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

I voted, though here in California, I wonder if it even matters sometimes. At least that 20 cent a gallon surtax on gasoline and increase on registration fees will get repealed. Couldn't agree more Tony! We have misguided family members that actually think that paying more taxes is a good thing. But yet they won't open their homes to migrants.
