I have a pair of 3.1Tl's which i use a Adcom GFA-555 to power them. I started off using an old Sony receiver as a preamp and i was using cheap old RCA cables. Now ive upgraded recently to a Yamaha HTR-5660 for a preamp and i'm using a Monster Optical cable. Its seems that the sound stage has defintaley opened up alot however that sweetspot that SDA's are know for has disappeared. I no longer hear the voices coming from between the speakers but it seems as the sweetspot widened alot. My question is could it be the Optical cable? or maybe i have some setting wrong on the yammy? I mean what made the sweetspot go away? Tom

Did you move the speakers at all? I find that the distance apart from each other can make a huge difference. (as little as 3 to 6" difference).

Sounds to me like the speakers are wired out of phase...

Thought you made the AVR and optical change at the same time. Apparently not...

Go back to the RCA's to the Yammie and see if the center stage reappears...

Do you have all the surround/signal processing modes turned off on the receiver? I am not familiar with your receiver, but I had a similar experince with a Yamaha HTR-5250 and a pair of SDA CRS+ speakers if any of the signal processing modes were engaged.
