1981, was supposed to be Offenbach, Germany, and Iron Maiden w/the original singer, Paul Di'Anno. He was sick and they cancelled. Ended up seeing Dire Straights, and they debuted Telegraph Road prior to Love Over Gold release, in Wiesbaden. Did see Maiden, Killer tour, at a later date and every tour after that through Power Slave.
Edit to add...just found a bootleg of the concert...ha, first concert I've heard that I've attended. Early version of Telegraph Road...Way cool!

I missed the "best me" part of this poll.
I'm out.I disabled signatures. -
I think the Doors and Hendrix win !
Was sure Rolling Stones would be a best very 1st concert
Tell them what they win Russ... -
I thought for sure there'd be a Monterrey Pop or Woodstock entry.

This thread made me a bit sentimental after my initial my contribution, so I did some Googloogloogling, and found this. Between 1968 and 1970 when it was called Colonel Barefoot's - it burned down in late 1970 in suspicious circumstances. My first visit there was in 1967, when I was 15.

Yeah, Beatles in concert. That’s something. My cousin saw them in ‘64 but had to lie about where she was going because her father forbid “Beatle music”. He once found a Beatles 45 in her room and took the belt off for it, in my presence no less.

No idea who opened for them, not worth remembering LOL!So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Rush A Farewell to Kings tour early 78. Another Canadian icon Max Webster was the opener.
Do you remember when all 3 members of Rush recorded the song "Battle Scar" with Max Webster? It totally sounds like a lost Rush song. It wasn't a popular song in America, but CHOM FM in Montreal played it constantly back in 1980-81.

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant -
Foreigner, mid 1970's; thanks to my friends Dad who took us. That look on his face when we stepped into the auditorium (heavy reefer in the air) was hilarious. It was a "oh crap I shouldn't have my kid here, but what the hell, we're staying" look. "Nantucket" was the warm up band.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Styx "Kilroy Was Here" 1983 at the Capitol Center
Mr. Roboto...
I used to turn the volume up for that song. I think as soon as I get back to my main CD collection, I'll crank the "The best of Styx" CD on the SRS'2s and Tritons at the same time. Maybe all 4 pr. that are hooked up now will be engaged.
Heck, I have a Styx album or two I can get to now. That will work if it/they are in great condition.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
Black Sabbath- Mob Rules Tour 1981. Ronnie James Dio killed it on vocals.

I certainly cant beat most of you lucky folks but my first ticketed concert was:
from what i remember it was a great show with the revolving stage in the center. I have seen some great free shows at Central Park (NYC) at various years. Simon & Garfunkel was insanely crowded. To name just one.
Does it count if you didn't make it into the show but, listened from the outside of an open air concert. ELP early 70's Gaelic Park BX NY. They sounded fantastic. I wish i was old enough to get in (or even have money for a ticket) LolDenon AVR X4200W
