This a million times. I just can't bring myself to fist bump. I've caved a few times, and it felt like I betrayed Braveheart.

I'll make a point of awkwardly grasping and shaking a fist before bumping one.

Maybe it's a European company -- in which case, of course, a hug and pecks on both cheeks are always good form... at least for male collegues. Not sure about female colleagues.

Yes. Also, a good old fashioned Up-high, Down-low, Too-slow. Be sure to do the dance while rubbing the new boss's face in it. Perfect first impression. It's kinda like beatin' up the big guy your first day in the yard in prison.

But you obviously have a nice job and are stable financially to be able to do so.

I'd be doing the same thing you just did with the power cords if I could! You are living the dream my friend, enjoy it!

    Thank You Drew.
I am grateful for where my family and I are. We have come a long way, my wife and I, and have known a life without. We are blessed in the most important ways( salvation, children, health, friends, etc) and that’s what counts.
I do hope you are able to reward yourself soon for your hard work.

    Not a bad idea!

I'm currently trying to figure out how to donate directly to a family in Indonesia who lost several members that were out doing a parasailing event when the tsunami struck.

    Clipdat,

Can't say for sure about Indonesia but the International Red Cross was able to get some money to a friend in Malaysia after an earthquake 3 years ago. I did pay an additional general donation to the IRC to ensure the money got through. I don't know if that was necessary or not. I saw it as insurance and well worth it and the money made it.

Edit: It took a week so it wasn't as fast as we've grown use to here.

Congrats man. Just a few tips for ya on your first day.

Leave the Star wars lunchbox at home

No Christmas Moose ties, or the like.

    Shake hands, no fist bumps

Have the Vet clip your nails

    Leave the Parrot at home

    ….and most importantly,

Don't wear that frickin' Panther cologne we heard tell you like. :)

Does this mean a good lap dance is out? Leaves quite an impression on the first day of a new job.
