She hates ALL old cars, but they are such a part of my DNA. I also want something I can build and leave for my son someday.

I have to say the Olds 442 would be a better, more valuable choice from that generation. The next generation of Hurst Olds Cutlass with the chopped-off rear-end wouldn't be bad...lighter and better handling.

I always drooled over the Buick Regal Grand Nationals with the turbo V-6, but that was mid-'80s.

Maybe I am missing it, but no mention of how many miles are on car?

To me a 2005 seems old and trouble prone, a 1975...........I think you are looking at a lot of issues that may not be apparent at first.

The 442 is more plentiful and not as desirable imho. There are fewer than 350 of the Hurst cars left from 1975.

IMHO, if you want something fun to drive, look for a Firebird or Camaro over the full-size land yacht. Parts are more plentiful, especially if you want to make it go fast. Trying to find a limited slip rear diff for the full-size vehicle is going to be a lot more difficult than finding one for the Firebird or Camaro. I had a '79 Olds Cutlass and trying to find a limited slip rear end for that was a royal PITA compared to finding one for the "sports" cars of the same year.

Yeah, if I was going to go with a "land yacht" as opposed to a GM muscle car of that era, I would prefer something with a more unique look, like a boat-tail Riviera.

Had a 69 Grand Prix SJ, loved that car.

It's all about what you like. And if you have a personal connection to it. For me, my 59 chevy was the first car I remember Dad driving when I was a kid. Not for everybody, but for me it brings it home.

If you're looking at it from an investment point of view, you'll never win. It's a hobby after all, it's about fun, and emotion. Just look at the items folks sell on this forum. Not really intending to make cash, just sell em for the fact that they are extending the passion to others. No different with vintage cars.

I'm reminded to think about all the money I spent on my full restoration. Way more that the actual street value of the car. I never really added up all the receipts!

    It's a journey!

Friend of mine growing up had a '70 Buick GSX Stage I. I like the Pontiacs and the Olds's of that era.... There were a couple of nice looking Monte Carlo's... And of course the Toronado and the El Dorado's were sweet. I've also seen some nicely restored and resto-modded Buick Rivieras. That was the golden age of american cars to me...Mid 60's to the early 70's.

I have a special place in my heart for a 67 Impala SS because my late aunt had one and it was beautiful. 427 2 door auto.... It was way too much car for my aunt but it was her pride and joy.

I worked with this dude while I was going to school who had a BEAUTIFUL '68 Buick Wildcat just like this one.

I dumped a chick who became a dentist because her father talked her into buying a PACER.... Who wants a hot chick in a PACER!!!
