Polk Monitor Series II 5jr

I picked up a pair of Monitor Series II (5jr's?) today. the woofers are fine, both of the SL2500 tweeters are shot. Can I use SL2000's in this speaker (I know they aren't preferred, but I can't drop another bunch of $$ for what the SL2500's cost).

Suggestions? Offers?

The replacement tweeter for the SL2500 is the RD0-198.

Wait a second, I was just reading in another thread discussing the purchase of 194s (back ordered) to replace some 2500s and someone mentioned using 198s and the idea was shot down due to lack of TL mods meaning that the 2500 and 194 are compatible whereas the 3000 and 198 are interchangeable (TL).

The RD-0194-1 is also the correct replacement for the SL1000

Thanks--I always mentally leave that one off because
a) I've never seen one (SL1000) in the flesh, and
b) my understanding is that it's not quite as simple a replacement due to size difference in the mounting plate.

The SL1000 and SL2000 are essentially the same dome/magnet, it's the mount that's different. The SL1000 also has the same 12-13KHz resonance spike as the SL2000. The inset must be modified to accept the 194.

if they are 5jr+'s nothing to modify. the rdo-194's are plug and play. I had installed them in mine without any modifications to the cabinet.

Re-read what I wrote. I was referring too the SL1000's mount, not the SL2000.
