I long thought tape's were pretty cool and loved making mix tapes (aka play lists for the youngins). However, I'd be surprised if any comeback would last. Unlike vinyl, or CDs, where do you see pre-recorded tapes anymore? It would recording your own from vinyl or CD or streamed music. After the gee-wiz factor is gone, what's the point?

I still think cassettes are cool though and play them occasionally.

eBAY... although there are new ones still available (at least, last I knew) from, e.g., http://usrecordingmedia.com/

Actually, the little cassette-shell-shaped electronic demagnetizers work well for the heads, but AFAIK don't do nothin' for the rest of the tape path.

FWIW, my go-to demagnetizer for nigh-on 40 years has been one of these from good ol' R/S :)

The Cleaner/Solvent I used to use was R12, which is no longer produced due to EPA regulations. Had to switch to Isopropyl Alcohol. Alcohol dries out the rubber parts though.

So a product of their time. Other than nostalgia I see no reason, they have been replaced by better sounding and lasting products a long time ago.
    A curiosity though!

I played some chess games listening to some cassettes about a year ago and enjoyed the crystal clear sound from my player and system.

Dave, do you have some old cassettes of Billy Idol or Alan Parsons still laying around?
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
