What is it with you kids an "remotes"? I get up...flip the channel.. find a program of interest and then sit back down.

And at times.. my coaster flinging marksmanship comes in handy....

Yeah, we're nearly bereft of remotes at our house, too. You just don't see a many single-ended 2A3 amps with remote controls, you know?

Note to self - put away the sandstone coasters, and wheel out the cage

I just wash my hands a lot. Don't eat and handle remotes at the same time. Wipe down once in a great while, some over 10 years old and look like new.

This^^^, plus I bag the remotes of my audio and video systems after duplicating their functions with my Harmony One universal remotes. Most of my original equipment remotes have faces painted with textured paint or faces made of coarse textured plastic, along with buttons made of soft grippy rubber...all of which are magnets for finger oils and dirt.

My Harmony One remotes have faces and buttons made of smooth hard plastic, along with a glass touch screen. All that is required is an occasional wipe with a soft cloth.

Because they hate op-amp optical coupling.
    Cork soaker coasters work better.

I felt the same way about mine until I held one next to a mint unused one. That's why I always buy a spare.
