Gale also produced a series of records that are very good sounding, I've collected a few over the years.

Interesting. I don't think I knew that (although maybe I did, way back when, and I've just forgotten).
-
Just paint them silver where you want it to show.... But isn't that black paint super difficult to find? I think you might have something very special there.

I didn't know that, interesting.
Here's something else I didn't know. Gale Storm had top billing in the movie, "Swing Parade of 1946".
3d on the list ? The 3 Stooges.
..... I've forgotten what this thread was about.

Aren't they all?
Aren't they all?

Do you know where they bought the paint? I'd say that's step one...Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

The Gale records came with a one year warranty, they would replace any record if the owner wasn't pleased. I believe there are six of them altogether and I think I have four collected. I keep meaning to look for more of them.

Ken, if you get bored it would be interesting if you could post a photo of the jacket of one and/or a few titles.
In another thread is probably most appropriate
Thanks.

Turns out it was not that big of a hassle to get the paint off, I used a light coat of orange stripping goo as recommended by Dennis Gardner on the surrounds and the paint peeled right off without discoloration to the original finish.HT:

Beat me to it!
In seriousness, yes, pics would be cool.
So, the "orange stripper" used -- was it like this stuff?
I used this stuff to remove some kind of nasty (polyurethane, I think) "finish" that the previous owner had applied to slate floor tiling in the entrance hall of our old house in MA. I tried a bunch of different things to remove it (it looked hideous, yellowed and chipped), nothing worked -- 'till, on a whim*, I tried that stuff.
Just curious!
* Yeah, I am a whimsical kinda guy.

Somewhere I have an "in process" image of the floor while I was stripping it with that stuff. I can't find it at the moment but here's the "after" picture, FWIW.

Man shame they killed those speakers like that. I hope you can save them.
On a side note they are some remarkable sounding speakers especially for what you paid for them. Great score I would have grabbed them as well and stripped all that madness off them. I think they will turn out good.
Post some final pics when your done. I'd like to see them.Dan

painting loudspeakers in ghastly colours must be a thing here of late.
I was perusing eBAY this morning, free of guile, when I happened upon this poor EV Aristocrat.
