Gale also produced a series of records that are very good sounding, I've collected a few over the years.

Interesting. I don't think I knew that (although maybe I did, way back when, and I've just forgotten).

Just paint them silver where you want it to show.... But isn't that black paint super difficult to find? I think you might have something very special there.

    I didn't know that, interesting.

Here's something else I didn't know. Gale Storm had top billing in the movie, "Swing Parade of 1946".

Do you know where they bought the paint? I'd say that's step one...

The Gale records came with a one year warranty, they would replace any record if the owner wasn't pleased. I believe there are six of them altogether and I think I have four collected. I keep meaning to look for more of them.

Ken, if you get bored :) it would be interesting if you could post a photo of the jacket of one and/or a few titles.

In another thread is probably most appropriate ;)

    Thanks.

If one wanted to paint strippers, would a drop cloth provide enough protection to make it safe, or would other measures, such as a pole of some kind be required?

Turns out it was not that big of a hassle to get the paint off, I used a light coat of orange stripping goo as recommended by Dennis Gardner on the surrounds and the paint peeled right off without discoloration to the original finish.

In seriousness, yes, pics would be cool.

So, the "orange stripper" used -- was it like this stuff?

    fc32a508-48d9-47f9-965a-d297850b8cb3_1000.jpg

I used this stuff to remove some kind of nasty (polyurethane, I think) "finish" that the previous owner had applied to slate floor tiling in the entrance hall of our old house in MA. I tried a bunch of different things to remove it (it looked hideous, yellowed and chipped), nothing worked -- 'till, on a whim*, I tried that stuff.

    Just curious!

Somewhere I have an "in process" image of the floor while I was stripping it with that stuff. I can't find it at the moment  but here's the "after" picture, FWIW.

Man shame they killed those speakers like that. I hope you can save them.
On a side note they are some remarkable sounding speakers especially for what you paid for them. Great score I would have grabbed them as well and stripped all that madness off them. I think they will turn out good.
Post some final pics when your done. I'd like to see them.

I think I'm going to roll with the silver factory finish and put them in my bedroom, I finally quit buying cheap mattress and got a good one and It's hard as he'll to get out of it and the urge to climb in it is overwhelming :) So I'll be setting up a rig in there for sports and porno.

painting loudspeakers in ghastly colours must be a thing here of late.
I was perusing eBAY this morning, free of guile, when I happened upon this poor EV Aristocrat.
