I won't speak for anyone else, but I believe the point to be....is it doesn't matter if it says M or MK, and that most use the MK designation when describing model numbers.

I can't find anything that says otherwise as it relates to the designation. Why is this an issue again ? lol

  • One has to think, if the model no. name plate and manual show it as M (no K), this the correct way to show it.

Like you, I don't give a rats a$$ how one shows it but I was called out for being "ridiculous" when stating that I removed the K from the model no. in my sig list.

You know, I just think it's ok to show the model no. as it appears on the unit. Seems to make since to me.

For one that doesn't give a rat's a$$ about how one shows it you sure made a big deal about it going so far as to change it in your sig.

I spoke with Jud a few times in the past about the pre amp I used to own. He referred to it as the Mark III. So, there you have it straight from the horse's mouth.

I never asked anyone to change the way they show it. I stated ,IMO, the K was not part of the model. But you called me out when I stated that I removed the K from the model no. in MY signature. Pot calling the kettle black here.

AGAIN, the term Mark in the description was never questioned but how it was meant to be shown. Per the name plate affixed to the unit it's M not MK with M being the abbreviation for MARK. Get it? I will get your point of view when you can show me just one authentic picture of a Joule preamp with MK on the model no. tag affixed to the unit.

One last time, look at the official Joule literature and dig up the old website, which all show the Mk in the model number. Furthermore, you won't find one sale ad or person, other than you that doesn't use the Mk designation.

Your line of thought is akin to someone calling their SDA 2B's, SDA 2's because the B isn't on the rear label.

So yes, I think you're being ridiculous.

Wow, all this over the letter K, I want my 10 minutes back. Something tells me your moniker of "Footwedge" is appropriate.

It's a well established fact that Polk was putting out 2B's without a B on the label. Keep your dollar.

By the way still loving my LA-150MII and contemplating what on earth does the M stand for and is a letter missing?

It has been 4 days, if you are REALLY that interested what the M does or do not stand for, then why haven't you contacted the experts?

on another note fellars......does anyone know if 6EA7 tubes can be substituted for the 6EM7 tubes. I know that 6EA7 is an equivalent, but will the LA-150MII tolerate that tube?

Care to post the model no. shown on the manual title sheet I emailed you? I guess gratitude is finite here when one doesn't walk the lines.

  • Had no idea when I started this thread it would morph into this. Since I'm an audiophile rookie/wannabe and never have anything technical to offer up to this site, I thought this might be an interesting discussion.

So with that, I want to apologize for my snide comments and hope there's no hard feelings.

Below you will find 3 price lists from 1999, '08 and '09 on Joule letterhead and one from SS also dated '09. Have no idea why the model nos. changed in the SS list but they did.

    Interesting if nothing else:
