Well... technically it's for her >:) ... ease of use and overall safety is the name of the game. Took out any tubes out of the running (which was why I sold the Cary 211FE monoblocks)... though I suppose a small tube preamp like a Cary 98 would be nice in the cabinet. I figured a SS amp outside the cabinet would still be safe... but you're right.... juice spilled in the unit = no bueno.

Originally, I was supposed to keep the Classe M600 monoblocks for this guy... but the wife said that I was not going to be hooking up such an expensive set of amps in the gameroom. And then when the audio equipment kept coming in, I had to concede to selling the amps to avoid the couch :s .

So that got sold and the money went to other audio expenses (Wels, etc).

So then I thought I could fit in the Rotel RB1590 amp in the shelf but I don't think I can unless I slip it in sideways.

I technically did not get clearance to get the 1590 amp placed on the outside of the media console, but I have not pushed my weight around to get it into the house yet.... :#

But you bring up a good point. Perhaps safety first and I should rescind full control of the unit.

Juice spilled on the amps is one thing, her little hands in the juice as electricity is surging threw it is another.

Maybe if you really want mono's....buy a cabinet that can hold them....for safety sake anyway. Just sayin'...carry on.

Joey, I'd echo @TonyB. Get a nice integrated, Parasound perhaps, heck maybe even a nice AVR *gasp* with those horrible apps of Pandora or Spotify so its easier for her to control.

As @lightman1 can atest, my loft system is setup was originally for me but gets more use watching youtube lindsey stirling videos by my daughter and man she loves it.

Super simple. Roku -> Anthem MRX-500 ->Usher bookies + Outlaw Audio sub. She also loves listening to some Pandora stations through the Roku

Yeah Skip and I talked in the background re the Parasound Halo... but I think I will go with a Rotel because of connectivity. I just have a hard time pulling the trigger on an integrated. My dealer's been waiting for my order. :(

Nothing can hold the monos my friend.. I think it would blow up the cabinet with sheer power.

No but seriously, I would probably get jealous and just bring it into the main room.

FWIW, my kids have never touched the gear that was in a cabinet, never taken the grills off any speakers either. However, recently I was watching an SVS youtube video and my son asked why the "driver" not his word was bouncing, (his word) . I may have made the mistake of playing some bass heavy music and pulling the grill off my SVS to show him and explain that by it moving it is making the sound he hears. Now I'm afraid one day he may want to check it out himself.
My parasound sits out in the open and the kids don't touch it.

No worries. I figured you'd already talked to Skip about Parasound .

At the end of the day the brand will only really matter to you. The usability is all that matters to her (at least right now).

So as long as you find something that works for both you are golden

Definitely 4 birds with 1 stone.

If only I had that kind of disposable income. D'agostinos with maybe a better SF speaker like the SF Amati Futura. Drop dead gorgeous combo.
