New subwoofer(s) recommendation?

So I have the setup in my signature. My theater room is about 16'x16'x10'(H). I had to relocate my Velodyne CHT-12 to my home office to replace a CHT-8 that just bit the dust, so that leaves my home theater without a subwoofer. I'm actually open to the idea of having two subs as well, but I might buy one now and a second later. I don't have a particular budget in mind but maybe less than $1000 would be ideal. Is there a go-to sub for that price point that would work well in my room size?

Can't go wrong. They have a great return policy and upgrade policy. They usually have some great deals. Or buy used.

I'm getting one of these delivered in a few hours, for the price it's hard to beat.

  • I recently went with SVS dual SB 2000's. $1300 from SVS new. I found a gently used gloss black and ordered another gloss black from OneCall for $1100 total. These are part of a downsizing I did. I had a huge Elemental Designs A7S-450.

They are EQ'd with my Denon X4000. I did boost the levels a bit to suit my liking. They are paired with LSIM 705's. Really happy with this as they do a fine job with music and are very capable with action movies.

Buying new is a plus because of the return policy, but you can generally find at least one for sale used and buy another "open box" if you want to save cash. Plus OneCall has an Amazon store and you can use Amazon credit to spread out payments with no interest.

Dang Cathy, good heads up on this!
I've always been curious to try the smaller sealed SVS subs.

Just following up on this thread years later. I bought an SVS sub, which was okay but a bit underwhelming, but was able to recover most of my cost by selling it. Recently bought a Rythmik F12 (turns out they are local to me), and I've been in audio heaven ever since. The servo system and ultra deep frequency response really are awesome.

    It’s Christmas, buy another one!
If you’re still in the 16 x 16 room, one should be plenty. Otherwise, get another F12

I'm in the process of moving, so all I have is my little 2.1 system in my signature hooked up to my PC in my home office, great system for a 11'x10' room. I'm building a new house with a 26'x'18'x10 home theater and I'll be getting dual F18's :#

I guess sometimes the journey takes time. Hard to go wrong with Rythmik.

Been strongly considering one or two myself.

Congratulations on the Rythmik. I don't think I've ever read a bad thing anywhere about their subs. Those 18's are beasts!

Thanks! The only thing I would like is if they used a real oak veneer (like the black Polk RTi's have) instead of the vinyl oak wrap, but the fit and finish is still excellent regardless.

I have an F12 in one of his “standard finishes” that I’m quite pleased with.
I’m seriously thinking of another F12

You cannot go wrong with Rythmik! I wouldn’t be contemplating a 2nd sub if I thought the technology wasn’t spot-on

However, I understand the F18 and F25 (might be others, too) are only available in the XLR3 plate amp

They are not the easiest to dial in but once they are? Holy Smokes Batman!!!

    I am a huge proponent of “ease-of-use“
The XLR2 amp allows you to use multiple subs as slaves to the main/master sub. Set-up should be a breeze with multiple subs using XLR2s

Might want to reach out to Brian at Rythmik and pick his noodle

    Good luck!
