New TV prospects

Greetings all! And so, the upgrade bug is still with me. I'm looking to upgrade my current 49" LG 4K to something bigger and better. It does have HDR, but very basic and not HDR10 or WCG. I'm trying to fall under the following.criteria:

-Budget under $2000
-65" / 4K UHD / HDR10 / WCG
-40% gaming / 60% movies

I’ve come across the Sony XBR-65X930D and the Samsung UN65KS8000FXZA so far. Any other good recommendations?

Many thanks all!

Sony is killing it right now.

My "budget" 55" 4k that I picked up for my 2ch room blew me away with its picture quality. I think it picked it up for $1k, it kills my buddies Samsung that he paid much more for.

Of course there are many levels and many budgets. One of the 1st flaws I look for when first walking in the door and looking at a wall of TVs is Tvs with brighter edges....This issue is "edge lighting" due to the technology used for the display

Highly doubt they are going to come in under the $2k budget though!

But I'm excited to see other companies getting into OLED. I will no longer buy anything made by LG.

I would go for the Samsung 6300 70 inch 4 k with her and low millisecond response time for games at $750

Hey guys, I wanted to add in the OP but since you cannot edit it anymore, I want to say that I would be sitting approximately 8 feet from the TV.

With that in mind, would a 60" suffice?

Ok... went and played with the tool... I don't really agree with it. I don't think you need to sit as close as it recommends. But interesting still. I think it's personal preference. And some eyes are better, older, younger, worse, bluer than others. As always YMMV.

I am screaming (need a 4K display) after getting a high end pic but all the experts have been saying to wait u til this years CES to pull the trigger. I want HDR and 70 inch with ultra low millisecond response time for gaming.

DLP may get some goodies this year as Texas Instruments has invented a 4K chip so expect to see cheap... Errrrrr slp projectors hitting the market.

How awesome would t be to get a 170 inch 235 aspect image on the wall in 4 k for less than $2000.

Went to Best Buy with the wife tonight and compared the 930d vs. KS8000. We were EXTREMELY impressed with the Samsung over the Sony. We shall see over the next couple days or week.

If you like the Samsung get it at Costco. Toss in the 5 year warranty for like $90 and don't worry.

My neighbor had a 52" he got from there. 4 years later his wife somehow spilled water on it ad trashed it. One phone call and the next day the tech showed up and said yup trashed. Tech made a call, two days later FedEx showed up with a new 55".
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

That's as good as it gets for warranty service. I'm surprised too because Samsung is not known for excellent customer service. Matter of fact, none of the brands excel at it.

Just be glad the Samsung doesn't explode. Between their phone and washing machine they have a pretty good PR problem, and it might lead to some good deals. Sort of like after Volkswagen got caught cheating on the emissions test. LOL. I have to admit that I did like that cheat. :)

Alright guys, so after spending most of the weekend between two best buys, we've decided on and purchased the KS8000. We were ready to pull the trigger on the 930D, but in the end it came down to price and the small advantages the 930D had, just wasn't justifiable. Once we got home, we watched xmen apocalypse on 4K disc and were blown away. Very happy with our purchase.

Only caveat is my wall mount kit only came with 20mm M8 screws and the Samsung requires 45mm M8 screws. Hoping Lowes or Home Depot have those.

I have the same tv (Costco version) & I can tell you Home Despot & Lowes don't have the correct 8mm screws.

Quick update....Home Depot had 8M 45mm screws...only 3 of them. Identical to what came with my wall mount. Lowes had one, but it was 50mm. Since that one stuck out a hair, i used a 5/16 washer to really snug and secure it. Worked like a charm. TV is mounted perfectly.
