Sonic never impressed me. Got one right up the street from my house. Grand opening a few years ago was a cluster ****. Traffic all backed up, 2 hour wait for a so so burger. Now there's never more than a few cars there at any given time.

I went to a smashburger the other day in San Diego I thought the place served some pretty good eats to say the least.

Haven't tried Smashburger, but heard they were really good. There is at least 1 in Tucson.

Try Red Robin...there is one in Tuscon. Way-mo betta than 5 Guys.
If you ever get a chance to try a Kobe Beef or Buffalo burger (which i'm sure you have) i can't imagine 5guys beats them out?!

I'm surprised with all this talk about 5guys that ken B hasn't been offended yet :D

Red Robin actually started up here in the Seattle area IIRC. They do have good burgers. Considerably more expensive than fast food though.
  • @steveinaz , Culvers is a real good burger.

There are a few local burger places around Wichita called "Walt's" that make a excellent fast food burger and a Bionic Burger with their 6 million dollar burger :)

It would kill the average man. Love the burgers and concur on the so-so fries. They get a little mushy as they cool off.

That's what happens to French fries made with real potatoes! My mom used to make them for us on occasion when we were growing up. Yes they got a little soggy when they cooled down, but you could warm them back up and they would taste just as good. Because they were made with real potatoes.

I used to love fast food or frozen French fries, but now I can't stand them. With the exception being 5 Guys.

Definitely order some chili 3-ways with your steakburger. Heaven, on a plate. Steak n Shake has the super skinny fries as well. They have shakes and MALTS. Oh yeah. Unfortunately I only get to have S n S when I visit Missouri or Colorado. They've been around forever, but there's only 2 in the Western states.

Look at the combo of meat they use in their burgers. Brisket ? How many put brisket in their burgers.

One is here in Chicago, across from Eatily by the old ESPN center. I can hang in Eatily all day.

....and btw, anyone claiming to put Kobe beef in their burgers is selling you B.S. Kobe beef, the real stuff, sells for over 100 bucks a pound. I highly doubt your getting it in a 10 buck burger.

hands down the best hamburger I have ever eaten.

Nope, best burger period. High-end restaurants rarely impress me, and most often leave me pi55ed off.

Agreed about higher end joints, but then again if I go to a higher end joint, it isn't for a burger believe me.

Best burgers are usually in the greasy spoon joints. Same with breakfast, find the biggest hole in the wall with a short order cook on or near the counter and you can bet your gonna eat good.

If the establishment can't show you a Certified Kobe certificate it's not Kobe. It's very limited to certain restaurants or served as specials. If you have the opportunity to ever try it please do yourself a favor and splurge.

The meat will literally melt between your tongue and the roof of your mouth.

At Ted's Montana grill I had one of the best burgers ever, was a Bison burger with Swiss cheese, bacon, mushrooms. I would stop in atleast once a week for a month or two then they closed up :(

Think I was their biggest and only customer.

Ahhh, burger joint talk. Love it. Couple of my all time favorites:
    1. Doggie Diner in beautiful Woodridge, IL. Family owned and operated since I was a snot nosed hellion growing up in the Chicago burbs. I hope it's still there.
    2. Yeah Burger in midtown Atlanta....pricey but excellent with pretty much any topping you can think of.
    3. I'll throw in White Castle because I miss it soooo much....and Krystal down here completely blows.
    4. Ate at Habit a couple times out in LA....very good.
    5. I used to like Fuddruckers but again....really none down here. Generally speaking, the food in the SW Atlanta burbs sucks.

Fatburger is another I like, haven't been there in ages! Miss a place called Quick-n-Split. It used to be off the 405 right behind Randy's Donut. The burgers were amazing! They were gone when we returned from Indiana.
