Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Hate to be a pain but do you have some pics of the Hytron 12AU7? I'll probably take it as long as it's not a relabeled RCA. Just want to compare the structure and getter to a couple I already have. They are somewhat hard to come by.

    Thanks in advance.

Here you go, it might well be a RCA tube it has the stop sign type emblem but other companies used it also. Very nice tube regardless it was made in 1952 and test at 3600/3500 where 1560 is minimum good :)

I'll take it, it's hard to tell for sure, but I'm betting based on the position of the getter. My other CBS tubes have a very slight taper at each end of the plates. This doesn't appear to have that. So it could also be a Sylvania or Raytheon. Although the white print Hytron and the 1952 date strongly indicate it is a CBS tube. Most of the rebranded tubes have red or orange print, not always........but most times.

    Let me know the total.

    H9

P.s. Don I have plenty of RCA's if you need them. If this turns out not to be a CBS manufactured tube I will give you dibs at the same $$. I have 3 CBS black plate 12AU7's and I need a 4th to make a quad.

Hi Brock upon looking at some more tubes it appears I have 2 of these with the same date the 2nd tube tests at 3300/3400 do you want it also or should I sell it to Don?

I want to compare to a few bp's I have at home tonight. So yes, I want them but I need to be sure they are what I'm looking for. If not, then Don can have them.

The getter being attached at the corner and the non-taper plates has me questioning if they are the same as the others I have. I'm at work and don't have the tubes here with me.

Do you mind sitting tight until later this evening. I'll take both if the construction matches the others I have at home.

    Thanks

    H9

P.s. I had a mental picture when I came to work of the ones at home, but now I'm doubting a bit.

Excellent detail on the photo's. It really helps show the construction.
