polishing LSI9/LsiC

Howdy all!
I am curious what you Lsi owners use to polish the black on the Lsi lineup or Lsi9/Lsic?
I have some Meguiar's Ultimate Polish, I tried a VERY small spot on the bottom. wasn't to happy with the finish. mine are not that bad just want to clean them up. I usually just wipe them down with a Microfiber towel
One more question. on the Ebony Lsi does anybody use something for the panels too?
Any recommendations are much appreciated!
THANKS!
Cheers!

Clean wood panels with furniture polish and a soft cloth. Do not use furniture polish on black gloss veneer.
Clean black gloss veneer with a damp cloth.

  • Roger that on the furniture polish.
How about getting the scratches/swirls out on the black gloss?

    Cheers!!

Yea I don't think furniture polish is a good idea many are silicone based and just attract dirt and dust. On my real wood SDA's I use Johnston's paste wax. Rub it on with soft cloth let dry a little and rub off with clean towels. One trick I remember from all the woods classes taken in high school except we used 000 steel wool there. I did use steel wool to apply on mine but you be the judge whether it would work on your panels. With the gloss black I'd probably stay with soft cloth.

Mikey, anything local maybe? We have one music store in town I'll check that one out tomorrow.
My main concern is the scratches/swirl marks and such.
    Thanks all!

You don't need polish, waste of money. Wipe with soft damp cloth, done.

That gloss black isn't lacquer, IIRC. I believe it's plastic.

  • So I just keep truckin it with scratches swirl marks on it? Lol. I do use a damp microfiber cloth along with a dry one when routinely cleaning.

There are products that are supposed to remove light scratches from plastics. Like I said though, I think it is plastic, so best check with Polk first.

    That should be fine.

I dont think polish will remove surface scratches unless you are removing a layer to even out the scratches or adding a layer to the scratches even out the surface.

I used to have a black Honda Magna that drove me nuts with "spider webbing" like that. Now, try this on a hidden surface first--but I found the only thing that worked was clear coat sealant. I'd lay the sealant first, then wax and I had a deep shine. You could also try polishes for motorcycle/atv/windscreen plastics.

I've used "Mothers" Plastic Polish in the past. Works well on colored plastics.
