Two six yo and a four yo. I've been able to squeeze em in the Grand Cherokee, and the Canyon has a bigger back seat so should be okay, if not I'll go with the full size Sierra.

I wouldn't, the current Tacoma is basically the same truck they have had for a decade... I would wait for the new model to be released.

No, the new Tacoma ain't the same as the last one. I've had both and love my 2016. While they have some styling similarities, the mechanicals are greatly improved. Better excelleration, smoother shifting, more interior comforts, a pretty good navigation/ entertainment package, and many after market goodies if you are into that.

In my humble opinion, the GMC's just aren't in the same league. And, my Tacoma was built in San Antonio .
    From Car and Driver:

Toyota’s not fooling anyone. Everybody who looks at the 2016 Tacoma sees that it’s just about the same truck that Toyota has built for a decade. The revisions, updates, and fortifications that make this truck kind of new are worthwhile, but the basic suspension, chassis, cab designs, and idiosyncracies carry over intact. The character of this truck, a Camry with a rear patio, is instantly familiar, as the rugged, indomitable, yet inoffensive soul of the mid-size Toyota pickup is the same as it ever was.

    http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/2015-chevrolet-colorado-lt-crew-cab-4wd-vs-2016-toyota-tacoma-trd-off-road-double-cab-4x4-comparison-test

Additionally, the Colorado/Canyon is heavier, faster, more powerful, and beats the Taco in almost every category and it's made in Missouri.

Darn, I wish I would have known....I wouldn't have had to wait 7 weeks to get one. Oh well, I guess I'll have to console myself with the resale value in about 6 years. Makes one wonder why the resale is so good on Toyota's when these GMC's are so desirable...must have something to do with the comfort, reliability, drivability, and cost of ownership.

Although I am also a Japanese vehicle kind of guy - they're typically far more reliable - I'm happy you got what you wanted. I hope you enjoy it, it sure has a cool name. ;)

I feel that the new GM is far above, what they used to be...The Colorado received Motortrends truck of the year, two years in a row. American motor companies have been hard at work and imo deserve our consideration.

Many people get pick up's cause it is the fad now.

Rent a U-Haul the 5 times you get building materials, and save a fortune.
    No added insurance etc.
Get a 6x10 utility trailer for $900.00 and resale it for $450.00 a few years from now.

A whole vehicle to simply use once in a while, is a huge waste.

Yup. Built a pergola with 6x6's, 2x10's, and 2x8's a few years back. Rented the HomeDepot truck for an hour to haul it back home. Larger jobs that require drywall, roofing, and landscaping often offer home delivery for $200. It sounds a lot but if you only do it once a year it's way cheaper than buying and supporting a truck. I have a Honda Pilot for the family vehicle and a 5x8 utility trailer for when I need to haul something smaller.

With that said, some trucks look cool as vehicles, so if that's why you want it then sure. You can also take it through the woods and hunt upland game birds from the truck bed. J/K.

I'm allowed to drive a '14 F-150 Platinum. Full tilt on options.
I have to wipe my shoes off before entering. I had to get a load of gravel one weekend, she said find another truck.
I hauled a pallet of pansys and some pruning shears once.
    Worst use of $61K ever.

I'm marching down the hall to talk to the owner of my company who has a fleet of 20 construction trucks to trade them all in, rent Uhauls and strap trailers to the back.

    Anyone hiring.......................

Where I grew up cars were a fad, and pickups were a way of life. Sure I live in a Midwest suburb nowadays but there is still a truck in the majority of driveways.

I'm going off the beaten track here with opinions.

I don't understand why you want to spend that kind of coin on a truck....to haul building materials with. Unless you want to beat it up quick.

I'd prefer to buy a beater pick-up for a few G's, and spend the bigger coin on something nicer for the family like maybe a luxury SUV. You let the beater take the brunt work and the Suv can still be used for minor stuff if your careful for those once in awhile bigger things.

    Another good idea!
The home stores near us have rental trucks, for really reasonable rates, hard to beat that compared to buying a new truck just for that reason

I'll remember to get a uhaul next time I take my kids camping, fishing, and hunting....wouldn't that be a sight, showing up at the check station in a uhaul. The Infiniti g35 coupe I just sold was a waste, fun to drive but couldn't do anything else.

I've owned trucks for 20 years now. I didn't know it was a fad. Where do you live? I keep a car for commuting 100 miles a day for work and the truck to do whatever I want on the weekends. Can't say I ever hauled building materials in it, but definitely a lot of other **** that won't fit in cars.

Are you critical of truck owners because of a traumatic experience? What is wasteful about it besides the perception of worse gas mileage than commuter cars? Some trucks get better gas mileage than some cars. What do you drive?

Just curious why I am being wasteful by owning a truck instead renting a uhaul every time I want to haul the motorcycle somewhere, or move, or take the boat fishing, or take some trails up a mountain, or do huge burnouts, or go pull people's cars out of ditches every time it snows, or help a friend haul giant speakers, or help my parents pick up new furniture, or... I have a trailer too by the way, but I wouldn't tow it with my car. That's ridiculous.

Whoops. I thought it was just a very inactive, reclusive dude not familiar with hobbies that involve going outside until I looked at the picture. Sorry.

I've been thinking about trading my truck for a Nissan Leaf now. This thread has potential to be life changing.

Before several derailed the thread........I own 2 trucks, 3 cars and a motorcycle (dirtbike) and 2 ATV's

My comment which I believe was taken intentionally wrong, was concerning many that never or rarely use trucks for things that only a truck would be more appropriate.

I have a dozen neighbors that never haul anything, never tow anything, they use them as commuter cars.

    No more no less.
