I saw Poison open up for another band early on before they got popular. Absolute worst overall performance I have ever seen, but they nailed a song towards the end that became a hit a few months later. They got booed off stage pretty bad. On the rest it seemed like they had maybe been partying too hard before they went on.

Emlyn, I think they always partied too much. They sucked to me but boy did they have some nihilist fun!

    REM
I actually like REM. Have to be in the right state of mind though, depressed.
Play a few tracks, and I get even more depressed :)

Just to be clear :- ) there is plenty of Pink Floyd and Yes that I like. There's some I don't -- Yes jumped the shark for me after (actually more like during) "Close to the Edge", and Roger Waters (even though I'll admit to having considerable admiration for him) ran Pink Floyd into the ground. Also, I got tired of many of the warhorses from both bands being horrifically overplayed on the radio ('specially "Dark Side of the Moon").

Now Rush. Them I just don't like. Never did. Nothing there for me. De gustibus non est disputandum.

This guy. This guy I like. Not lame. Nope. ;- )

    I'll just leave this here.

Actually - and FWIW - the more I think about REM, the more favorably biased I am (in retrospect). "Stand", "Losing My Religion", "It's the End of the World" - not high IQ stuff, but very catchy melodies and abstruse but interesting enough lyrics.

A little too self-consciously, deliberately weird, though.

There has to be a reserved spot for Coldplay.

I'll probably get a lot of hate for this, but i've never understood the fascination over Smashing Pumpkins! I just can't take Billy Corgan's voice. It's very Eminem nasally and irritating sounding.

Also don't get the hate for Rush! Moving Pictures is brilliant.

I do agree with Coldplay. They rank up there with Nickelback. BLAH!!!
    No excuses!

Led Zeppelin... They stole more music from others than they wrote themselves.

Plus they were (nearly) every twelve-year old boy's idea of what a big, bad rock band should be (mudsharks notwithstanding).
