Can I utilize this amp?

I may be able to get one of these from work.

Would I be able to somehow use this as a subwoofer amp??

Crest used to be one of the best in pro audio gear, I've been out of the loop on the pro gear for about 6 years, not really familiar with this particular CA model of power amp. Looks like it's not rated to run below 4 ohms, hmm. Maybe some other pro gearheads here can chime in.

Why do I feel like that "but...." is going to be a pain in my 'b.utt'. :p

JK...I'll give you a call later tonight.

PS...yes, the work b.utt is not allowed.

Unless that's a misprint, that's the first time I've seen an amps spec that lists the 4 ohm rating LESS than the 8 ohm.
    HT SYSTEM-
    Sony 850c 4k
    Pioneer elite vhx 21
    Sony 4k BRP
    SVS SB-2000
    Polk Sig. 20's
    Polk FX500 surrounds

    Cables-
    Acoustic zen Satori speaker cables
    Acoustic zen Matrix 2 IC's
    Wireworld eclipse 7 ic's
    Audio metallurgy ga-o digital cable

Yeah I read that two or three times just to make sure.

We chatted last night and I think this will work for what he's looking at.

He's gonna be building fairly large 6+ cubic foot sealed boxes in a folded horn design potentially (Bill Fitzpatrick tuba sub) and that design doesnt need a lot of wattage to get stupid loud.

He's aware hes going to need a high pass/subsonic filter in the mix to keep the driver from unloading super low, but in his case he has the room for super large ported boxes, so he's should be good.

Now he just needs to marry that design in WinISD to a driver thats suitable. He will want to check out the models on 8 ohm DVC & 4 ohm DVC subs (each VC wired to its own channel) and 4 ohm VC subs to see which works best.

Thanks for the conversation last night. I won't know for a couple months if I can score one, and I'll check into the things you mentioned in the meantime.

No worries. Do your due dilligence beforehand, that only costs you your time .
