"Bottom line is if the forum loses its sense of humor and entertaining value I'm out."

I totally agree Hbomb, I'm sitting here with a stomach ache from laughing so hard at some of these threads. You guys are hot today!!!

"I'll buy that frizz but I'm still scratching my head regarding the BIG changes..."

Don't know either. we will all just have to wait & see.

"Audio and this forum is a hobby to me and as serious as I am about it,(which I can't come close to a lot of members here), its far from my career and is nothing more than a release. "

It is for me as well. Shoot half the time I don't even know what the heck you guys are talking about it gets so technical.
But I do know that I'm learning alot (from what I can understand) and having a lot of fun to boot. And that's all that matters!

    Take care.

    are so brainwashed it's scary!

The 180,000 white-collar jobs recently exported to India is good for our economy? We're used to exporting heavy industry to other countries for some time now, but this is different.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, these vanishing jobs are among computer programmers, software engineers, systems analysts, support specialists, network administrators, etc.

Local governments are having your speeding tickets processed in India. GE is exporting many jobs over there... American Express... Prudential... AOL.com Microsoft... Cisco... HP... Apple is doing the same thing... Lucent... Oracle... At&t Wireless...

Think about these companies and how many have recently had layoffs here in the US... are you doing business with any of them??

    http://www.techsunite.org/news/techind/031119_att.cfm

How do we, as a labor force, compete with foreign countries willing to do the same job for 10% of the US salary?

We are buying their products and they are exporting our jobs. This breaks the very basic economic cycle.

bush can't blame the Clinton admin for his failures any longer...

The morale of the troops in Iraq is falling because of the failure to find WMD's. (Can't blame the Clintons for that one.)

Do you actually think bush's recent misrepresentation of Kerry is fair? It's all a power grab.

I can't wait until bush actually debates Kerry. Get bush away from a script and he falls on his arse more often than not. That interview on Meet the Press was a JOKE!

    spydie,
What does anything in your last post have to do with the thread topic?

The "brainwashed" conservatives have pulled in their horns in the name of forum harmony, kindly do the same.

However, if you must debate the merits of the likely candidates in effin' March, please start your own thread.
    More later,

And where are those jobs going? Many are indeed going to India, as portrayed in NOW's story, but others are heading to China, Russia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, and the Czech Republic. In short, they are moving toward cheaper labor costs.

In November, 2003, Bangalore will be hosting a huge IT job conference, Bangalore IT.com 2003, the largest IT conference in all of Asia. Intel and IBM are among the sponsors.

It should be noted that while salaries are much lower in India and other BPO hot spots, that does not mean that the companies are providing inadequate compensation — the cost of living is significantly lower in India. However, as both THE TIMES OF INDIA and THE ECONOMIST have recently noted, some jobs are in turn leaving India for even cheaper locales.

    Spyd:

And? The world is becoming an open and free market. Personally, while it completely sucks losing American jobs, unions and the like (along with trickle up of wages) have caused the average American worker to be very overpaid comparitive to the rest of the world. What can we do? Increase our productivity so thay we are 20X more effiecient or educate our workforce to be the leaders and managers of these world companies.

One advantage of all this is if someone has a house, good job, and a decent life in their own country, they won't have the time or motivation to attack ours.

Like I said, it sucks that Americans are losing jobs (most you listed were services) and I buy American everytime I can. My personal feeling though is that if American workers don't want to lose their jobs oversea's, it is better for the US if they become better at what they do so that the jobs are not moved or move to another non-threatened job rather than try to legislate where jobs happen.

Losing heavy industry is worse though since that's a national defense issue and a whole different ballgame..

Damn my comps been down for two days and hell breaks loose. To me this is not just an audio site. We should all make an effort at not swearing and polk should not bann people. I missed the whole weapons thing but as long as it is talking in a legal fashion then it should be allowed.
Wish I was a polkologist then I could call my self Dr.warviper.
