Before i start. Thank You WMG David. I would have never attempted this without your help. I did all this in my kitchen & David guided me thru it with ease. NOTE: some of the pictures taken might have been taking before i made changes...
..
1st day-I gutted the cabinets. Installed Larry rings (talk about snug). Sealed cabinets. Dynamated woofers & passive.
..
2nd day-Position baffles (WMG invention) & install holes & remove. Mount crossover & position inductor away from crossover board & woofers. Install baffles again & put in Dacron. Mount binding cup. Run all wires to where they will live. Put tweeter & woofers back. Put passive radiator back in place. Test for air leaks. PurrFecto.
..
Everything fell right in place. I am only half way & plan on starting the other speaker tomorrow. I will take the steps i took on this speaker so i know the cabinets are sealed & i take my time. Thank you again David. I will not test till finished. After doing the push on passive test something tells me the bass is going to be unbelievable. When i did it seemed like it held steady & never came back. I enjoyed these before & this is a different level

Enjoy! -
Thanks guys.. Well i got them done YEAH hooked them up to test without cord on amp with around 300wpc+~ first thing i noticed is the tweeter. Oh my. So i turned it up & said ok BLAH. OK get out the SpeakOn cord & OH MY GOSH sweeeeeetttttttttt listened to one of my favorite Boston cd's & ok here goes with my quick impressions/reviews are '' i like it '' LOL.... Noticed a big different in the sounds. Cleaner mids & punchier faster bass with the preamp in the same spot on this solid state amp its alway at. Im not new to the RD0-198-1's & they do not disappoint in any music i listen to. I am testing them without the passive grill on. I used 8 screws in one & seated nicely. I used 4 screws on other & it also seemed to seat nicely. I may just use 4 & put metal grills back on. I was deciding weather to drill out metal & use all 8. But i think it will be fine with 4 w/covers back on. Now time for me to move gear around & get this on some tube action. Thanks again for everyone on forum. Reading post & talking to members here has been wonderful & now im ready to do next project..

Great job! Enjoy those classic speakers.

Randy, that looks like a pretty solid grip on the BP cup. Is Larry making rings for binding post cups now?
Westmassguy's work also looks to be quite nicely done.
Is that inside shot of the BP cup done after the Speakon cable was added?
-
TK Not sure what Larry has right now. I will say this-they are snug. I had to temporary use some longer screws on the binding post cups & i used a sharpie to try to hide the shiney heads. Yes inside picture would be that of SpeakOn. Davids work is clean & everything fit perfect
.
Disregard that statement. Larry included the longer screws. I just found them in the RTA15 rings. My apology . I will be installing them & the passive grills tomorrow.. -
Randy, if those aren't Larry's rings on the BP cups, what did you use there?
-
