Has that vintage early 70's vibe. Is that an "m" on the badge?

Short answer -- I'm clueless (y'all knew that already, though...)

Longer answer -- any chance of seeing a photo of the basket of the driver(s)?

I should have took a photo of basket too. They are at GW and I did not take them home. Gold color paint on basket with two inch wide magnet inside back of basket. I could not see the front without removing whole driver from the rear. Maybe I can get by there Saturday and make purchase$20.00. Seven day return policy. Thanks. D

Check for dry rot. If they have ribbed/accordion style paper surrounds, they can be brittle and tear. Treated cloth may or may not be shot. Foam would definitely need replacing. Some woofers from the 60s and early 70s also had paper/cardboard voice coil formers, which can collapse.

    I'd buy them for 20 smackers :- )
I doubt that the drivers will have foam surrounds -- more likely paper accordion, treated paper accordion, or cloth. Maybe sheepskin, like the Lafayette SK-58? ;-)

Gold baskets -- first thought is Calrad drivers or University -- the label on the grilles is completely unfamiliar, though.
  • I thought University at first.

My next thought is they were made by a company that made TVs
then switched over because of good cheap Japanese TVs in the
    late 60's early 70's.
  • Companies such as Curtis Mathes, for example.

Companies such as Curtis Mathes, for example.

The present examples don't have a Curtis Mathes logo I recall, though, FWIW.
I remember something like this ('borrowed' from an eBAY auction)

just for kicks I uploaded just the logo to Tineye to see if it would return anything. It did not. even rotated 90 degrees right, but same; no result.
I was thinking this was some clever logo for mDi or mDl or something, but not returns on searches there, either.

two-thirds of it is, essentially, the schematic representation of a speaker driver.

    Still not sure if that's an "M", a "W" or... an "E" :-P
EDIT: heh... or maybe even a "3" :-/

I don't know about youz guys but that logo looks like something that came down in Roswell, N.M.! lol Or else it was fabricated to provide eerie audio accompaniment to the practice of "auditing" in Scientology?

    Maybe its
    Martin Audio London?
M is for martin, triangle is a speaker, and "l" is London?

I think the logo is trying to say to cut the top off a coat hanger before using it as speaker wire, it's Excellent, or maybe the sideways M is not an E and is actually supposed to stand for Magnificent.
