Sure, but not what almost everyone in the east would consider to be winter. Here in western Oregon, we have only within the last couple of weeks had a hard freeze (sub 26 F). That’s only because it’s been clear and dry. Snowpack is only about 30% of normal. Stay safe everyone. Freezing rain is the pits.

We're probably only going to get rain.

Good luck to you guys in the path of the snow and ice.

Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

You may laugh, but please allow me to tell you a story that happened to a friend of mine. She lived in the Charlotte suburbs, in a rather swanky part of town, where you wouldn't think something like this would happen.

I found out because I was watching the news and I saw my friend on the local TV news channel. I about did a double take when I saw her being interviewed by a journalist. The TV was on mute at the time, so I went and turned it up, so I could hear what in the heck she was on the news for. This was during an ice storm that affected the area "somewhat" widespread maybe 25 years ago (give or take 2 or 3 years). While I had power at the time, she did not, nor did many of the folks around her area.

Anyhoo, when I turned up the volume, I heard her state that apparently a group of men showed up and took her unlocked generator, while it was running mind you, loaded it into a van and took off so quick, they had no way of catching them. While my friend (and her other friends in the house at the time) were only 20 feet away from the generator (running), they unhooked the cords and had it loaded in the van so quick, by the time they went outside to see what was going on, the van was driving off. Stolen license plate, so no tracking the vehicle.

It doesn't take very long to take one of these units, especially if multiple men are involved. They don't need to be your neighbors either. Just a crook(s) looking for electricity themself or just looking to make a quick buck at a time where generators are as scarce as an Asian man sporting a full beard.

The thing is, when there is no power in an area, a generator becomes a calling card for those who have one. They can be heard multiple blocks away.....all a thief or thieves need to do is follow the noise source and figure out a plan. It was/is just friendly advice, but you do you.

BTW, the perps were never caught and she went without power or another generator for another week. Just food for thought.

Here in the northwest Pa to be exact, we are going to get hit with 17-19 inches Saturday night , then another inch on Sunday. OF course Mother Nature wants another inch, go figure.

I'll be honest , I'm so over winter.
