  • @cfrizz Cool if it works then work it!!
@dizzy You have the RTiA8 listed in your system bio beneath your profile name. Have a look right here on this thread.

Did you finally get the CSi5 center?
The reason why I sent the links to the http://web.polkaudio.com/products/fxi3
and http://web.polkaudio.com/products/fxi5 is because those were made for the series that you own.

The FXI series work extremely well for surrounds, side walls. I personally prefer them to direct firing speakers for this duty. Likewise I prefer direct firing speakers as rear surrounds as opposed to di/bi-pole speakers.

Reason is simple. More information from surrounds than the rears. Your hearing is less directional from behind your head than from the sides. The FXI series speakers by their nature creates a less directional sound causing less localization than direct firing speakers. Some others may disagree, but it's what I personally hear.

I just fixed my signature. All these letters in the models get confusing. lol. I did get the csi5 center. Very tough decision on what surrounds to get and where to place them. Anyone have comments on my possible sub upgrade from paradigm dsp 3200 to a SVS pb2000?

  • My room is not that big.
When you have the system set up properly, the surrounds should blend in as one big, coherent soundfield. Of course htere are ALWAYS personal preferences about what type of surrounds to use and that is where the debate always starts.

Nothing wrong with having more than one sub!!

I am not familiar with your current sub but SVS offers a generous 45 day trial period with free shipping both ways. Nothing to lose, no brainer IMO...

Just checked and they have several in the outlet store for $70 off.

I'm in the same situation (couch against the back wall) and someone said the FxiA4 or 6 won't be practical to install, since they need room behind them.....!

Incorrect. Unlike the bookshelf models, the port on the FXi models is on one of the outward facing sides. They are ideal for wall mounting.

I think I'm going to get the fxia4 and a svs sub. What's better to get? The ported or sealed?

As a generalization: sealed for music, ported for movies.

Now the next issue. Finding someone to purchase my monitors and my cs2 center. Hopefully the paradigm dsp 3200 won't be hard to sell. Any suggestions on selling them? I have them on Craigslist and don't really want to ship them.

    Nice system
Can I respectfully suggest raising your surrounds up another foot?
BIG effect on your surround soundfield I promise.

    Thanks HA.

They are at 6ft high & 6ft apart well secured into the studs in the wall for safety which is what is recommended. I had a friend who had the tools help me with it.

It sounds just fine to me, and more importantly, when I had a friend over to watch a movie at one point she asked me if it was raining, I just grinned and pointed to my back speakers! :D

At least 2 feet above the head or 3/4 the way up the (8-9ft) wall is the general recommendation. Of course you see them higher and lower than that. For sure try them higher, lower, wide, narrow to see what works best. Rooms are SO different when it comes to the surround effect.

I am having difficulties making a decision on a new sub. HSU subs look good. If My budget is $800-$900, would SVS or HSU be better?

Hard to go wrong there. Both companies offer very good money back guarantee. Put one of each on a credit card, return the one you like the least before your next CC bill is due.

Agreed, both are great. Not sure if HSU offers as good in home demo period and return shipping. I could be wrong...

How do you think 2 outlaw subs would compare to one 15" HSU other ID subs? I really want to run dual but don't want to spend $2000+. I am having a very difficult time deciding on a sub. I thought I narrowed it down to psa v1500, RA ech0 15 or a Rythmik fvx15 until I read some on the outlaw and can get 2 for $1200.

Like the Rythmik of the above choices. If you have room for 2, I would probably go with these, for under 2k.

I was originally going to get 1 pb 2000 but figured it wouldn't be enough. That's why I was looking at getting a 15". I listen to a wide variety of music but watch mostly movies. I want hard hitting bass but a also a sub that sounds good all through the spectrum. I really like the rythmik. I wish there was somewhere I could listen to them.

SVS has 45 day return policy, free shipping both ways if you don't like them. Rythmik 30 days, but you pay all shipping.

Try the PB 200's, I'll bet you don't return them.

What is better then? 2 pb 2000 or 1 pb13? I know it will be difficult for me to place 2 subs in my room but I will if needed.

Call them. Tell them about your room, listening preferences and associated gear and they'll tell you what's best for your application. Top notch CS, right up there with Polk.

Probably go lower, and have a little more punch from 30-60 HZ range. That really is a tough choice.

I would like to upgrade my surrounds if I knew what would be a good match to my fronts. I'm sure my wife would love getting rid of the floor standing speakers. I need recommendations on surrounds and possibly a sub upgrade.

I have monitor 70 for the rear, work great.
