Jolida fusion DAC/Transport.

Looking for something in this realm.
All the specs and wizbang look right.
I had an ear on some of their cdp only goods and was DEEPLY impressed. Looks like a flexible piece of gear. Thinking about pairing it to their matching big arse stoopid 100W tuber in the same line.
Love their amps! Anybody had an ear on this DAC/T?

And BTW. Don't tell any one here that I talked about anything audio related. It's a secret.
    Cool? Thanks.

Straight up two chanel. Shartload of cd's. Redbooks. Hybrids.
They describe this one as a DAC with a transport built in. So for ease of install without all the fuss of multiple inputs/outputs, USB, Bluetooth wifi, rabid squirrels...
And! It has dual mono balanced XLR outputs as well. Seems like a good package deal. Just looking to see if anybody has first hand experience with it.

Check...it does have USB inputs. I'm old skool, yo!

Russman and I use the Glass FX Tube DAC II and the JD 801 BRC for our show rig at LSAF with great results.

Jolida fusion DAC/Transport is what replaced the Jolida JD100 CDP. Which you already know when hot rodded like F1nut did to his JD100 was a world class performer.

I must note that I should add F1's JD100 to the audio regrets thread...for not grabbing it when it went up for sale.

If it's got your mouth watering I would go for it

I have heard stories of that cdp. Six tubes and no opamp in the circuit? Less is more I assume.
Well poopie! They have a stage 2 mod... Maybe later. But bang for the buck, what the hell?
Brock!!! Talk tubes brother! I haven't had this much fun rolling since the last rave I went to!

I think Jolida made a mistake calling their new CDP a DAC/Transport. There's a lot of folks that don't get the fact it's a CDP, hence their sales dropped like a lead weight.

I also think they were foolish to drop the JD100 as they were still selling very well. Which brings up.....I don't see JD100's up for sale, guess folks are keeping them.

Troy sent me a pic of my former baby. Looked very happy in his rig and I'm pleased he and TLW are enjoying it. B)

That's what I found a tad odd, Jesse. A DAC with a transport built in (??). I've looked for a jd100, but to no avail. I think I'll pull the trigger on this one or after a long talk with Skip, a unit he has up for grabs. Both in my price range. And have heard many a Jolida. Biased...maybe.

Not the only one Rich, but coming from Russ....kinda redundant isn't it ? lol

    Ern,
If your missing the JD100, I can recommend a look at a used Cary 306 professional version for the added SACD playback. Aside from not doing dsd, you may be able to use the 306's digital inputs for your flac files and saving you the cost of a dac.

    Russ,
Congrats man, looks like a sweet player and as Brock said, it has tubes whats not to like.

Rich made a good point. This purchase only confirms it. Just figured after bustin my hump for years and taking care of everybody else, go ahead and get some NEW gear and go from there.
And NO, the 1C's are not for sale.
Thank you gents for spending my money.

Are both truly balanced devices? If so go XLR.

I have a pre that has balanced connection but is not truly balanced and the XLR and RCA on my amp have different impedance values.

Both cdp and pre are balanced. That's why I am leaning on the xlr side. Better signal transfer. But then RCA to eq and then to amps . Skip!!! Gimme a call!

Impedance should answer that question. You always want to input into a higher impedance, some audio types claim 10 times higher is best. But tube gear usually has higher output impedance than SS gear.

Looking at specs of your DAC, SE (single ended) and balanced output have same impedance of 47k ohms, although balanced is hotter output at 5.0v versus SE at 2.5v. Your pre input impedance is 100k ohms, so you are golden using either (lower into higher impedance). IF one output impedance were significantly lower than the other, I'd try the lowest output impedance and see if you heard a difference over the higher impedance output.

Thanks Rich. That only confirms my initial thoughts. Got a nice set of XLR cables coming in from your friend and mine!!!!!......@DSkip!!!
How about a big round of applause for the young man!
Another consideration is break in time. The signature will change a bit over time. So we'll see how things may or may not change as the set up "cooks" for a while.
Again, I'm only trying to help you folks understand that cables won't make a difference.
