Seriously? We shouldn't be allowed to talk about a sport? Nobody is forced into it, they all choose and want to be involved. I find the thread title appropriately censored.

Hmmm......Here I thought we were all about equality these days. If women want to be put in battle and fight and/or possibly die, I see no problem if they want to participate in a sport with other women. It is their choice and this is not some underground forced fighting thing.

As long as it's woman to woman, mixing genders in the ring would be a no-no in my book.

While I didn't get to watch the fight live, I did see enough clips on the web to wonder what was up with Rousey. Holm had a mean "Apollo Creed" like jab that seemed to stun Rousey from the start. I'm thinking Holm stung her good early on with it and she never recovered.

The rematch will be quite interesting and a VERY healthy payday for both of them!

Completely agree with this. I did some boxing in college as a Light H-Weight (nothing too serious but sporting), Ali was my idol (float like a butterfly sting like a bee) so I did NOT like to get hit, lol A lot of left jab, circling and counter-punching, used some weight training to give my jab enough force and stiffness to get someone to think TWICE about coming IN. Pretty much what we saw from Holm, the perfect strategy against a grappler like Rousey. Rousey's mistake, NOT training enough for such a fighter. Not sure how she'll fare in a rematch. You cannot afford to get pummeled by that left and set up for rights and kicks later. A grappler can never beat a good boxer unless they can get her "on the ground" and take away the striking!

As for brutality? I'm a fan of the SWEET SCIENCE! And the ALI who rarely took a punch in his early career! It's a real ART when done WELL! And, as I said, the goal is "not to get hit"! Man up, or in this case Woman up!

No joke there, Tony. I remember seeing peasant women walking over a quarter mile to the communal well, drawing about five gallons of water for the day and carrying that back home! Then spending most of the day in the fields!

Sorry, I have a hard time with this violent sport and definitely can't watch women fighting like that. Much too barbaric for my taste as is the title of this thread. :(

If it offends you so much then don't read it! They are big girls who can make choices for themselves and want to be in it. It's called a freedom of choice, if you can't understand that then no one can help you.

OMG they are fighting oh geezee guys it's terrible. Honestly grow up. You seem to be offended at anything these days and if it's that bad then leave. Not like you talk about anything useful.

Also several other sports could be considered far more offensive etc. Look up the history of some of them and trace them back. If you're offended by this then I'm sure you'll be offended at several others so I guess we can't even talk about sports in general.

I guess the "Are you READY for some FOOTBALL" thread should be closed as well. Way too violent a sport. The nanny state do-gooders want to stop American Football as we know it too.
