Meh, they make a good point. Why bother buying a mag for overly photoshopped pics of naked women when they're available for free.

Other than Club Polk, a little nudity never hurt anyone. I wonder if they will place any emphasis on music and gear.

Very true. In Europe the newspapers, regular magazines and TV, which ANYONE can see, have plenty of nudity.

Looks like that will be a boost for Hustler anyway. Does Playboy think it's going to enter the world of legitimate journalism....if it still exists anyway ? Maybe a sexy version of Better homes and Garden ?

And something else in the other.

    Probably not a sandwich.

I always kind of felt - at least in its prime - that Playboy, minus the skin, would be pretty much a nonregional (or less regional) version of The New Yorker. Pretty similar suite of editorial content; fiction, nonfiction, cartoons and reviews.

    I don't think I've seen a copy since the mid-1980s, though.

I was going to say they can now advertise in the centerfold
  • I think this will help with distribution. Playboy will be available in the grocery stores next to the checkouts for instance, or airports. They have a lot of equity in their brand, so I think making the magazine more appropriate for the general public will certainly help it reach its target market.

  • I don't. Playboy is a lifestyle magazine that is aiming towards young professionals. It is based around extraordinary women, products, and ideas that suggests that young men strive for a less ordinary life.

LOL.....I don't know one person who thinks PB is a lifestyle mag. Unless that lifestyle is made of money and naked women, and no responsibility. That leaves a few out of the targeted audience.

Maybe in PB's mind that's the direction they want to take it, but brand wise.....the PB brand isn't associated with lifestyle imho. Not one that revolves around reality anyway.

GQ would be a good example of a men's lifestyle mag, though a little out there too. I think PB is looking to add that touch of class to it's brand name, which is going to be an uphill battle for them.

The mags sales have tanked. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a marketing ploy to stir up excitement about the mag and try to ramp up sales temporarily just because the name is in the news again. Hef is 90 years old. I can see them getting rid of the physical print mag after he's gone and focusing strictly on the net and TV, etc.

Yep, Hef is one dose of Viagra away from the big one.

Playboy was a huge hit when I was in the sixth grade.

Now it needs to offer something new.

Maybe popups in the centerfold. Something like a Fleshlight custom matched to the girl on the paper.

I will be waiting patiently for an upgradeable Japanese Sex Robot. Cheaper than a girlfriend and way cheaper than a divorce.

And for the ladies they will be available in not only both genders, but Vampire too.

I can honestly say I could care less, never cared for the rag, Penthouse was much better IMO, and I could care less what happens to that rag these days as well..

Nudity can take away from the excitement and beauty of a woman, if a woman has the right eyes I could get lost in them more than her b,r,e,a,s,t,s..

Not that I don't enjoy a naked woman, but I'm sure some of you "anyway" know what I mean...
