Can't split the cost right now. I sold my amps last week and am looking for something new. Not in any hurry but wanted to be free when I do find what I want. Once I get the new ones I would be happy to split the $$$'s.

If you want to borrow my Classe M600, I can do that. After I settle this speaker battle.

Did you reposition the room treatments panels with the Strads? Different speakers usually requires different position in the room. Or they won't require any room treatment at all. Why not remove all the panels and have a listen?

    Yep, removed and returned panels.

Strads have limited diffraction off the infinite 2pi baffle.... so less room interaction than the Diamonds. The Diamonds require a LOT of absorbers, the Strads require less.

The Strads require a larger room, the Diamonds can be done with less of a room.

After an exhaustive listening session and multiple back and forth's last night.... my conclusion:

    1. Strads perform better on the Classe M600 than the Cary 211 overall INCLUDING image density which was surprising to me since I thought the tube was going to add to the overall weight and realism of the notes.
    2. The 802 Diamonds perform better vocals and up on the 211FE moreso than the Classe M600. However, the M600 wipes the floor with the bass. The overall tone is also very good with the M600 and everything sounds.... more even and cleaner. The 211FE romanticizes the sound. Whether one is better than the other, personal preference. But I like having the option to use tubes.
    3. The overall enjoyment factor of the Strads is VERY dependent on positioning, very difficult to get right. I would need a master Sumiko room expert to come in from Houston to set up the Strads right if I choose to keep them.

It would be awesome to give the M600's a go. I might be in the same situation for the next few months. I am looking to make a move and maybe taking my system apart for the short time. Take your time and when I get back up and running we can give them a try. Thanks

My guess is that you need to buy a few more Preamp. For trying to setup a new speakers, I would use a really good SS preamp and SS amp to begin with. Trying to get right with the Tube Pre and Tube Amp in a combination would requires massive amount of tubes to roll before you like what you hear.

But this is your lucky day, someone is selling Classe Omega MKIII pre.

I really don't think that Strads will require superman ability to position in the room. Perhaps, a few other Strads owner in AA can chime in.

Trying to get the right synergy for such system could be fun and exhausting at the same time; not to mention it will drain your wallet quickly. lol
