Figured I owed you fella's some decent pics of the new setup after about a year of living here....

Actually I finally got some time when it was not torn apart by the kido to take some pics...

This is without the addition of the HTPC which is upstairs installing about a bajillion windows updates, or the possible addition of a different sub and also a Denon X4100 which will all likely be happening in the next few months....

Current Gear list:

Speakers:
Fronts: Polk LSi 15 w db840 sub modification
Center: Polk LSiC
Surrounds: Polk LSi F/x dipole bipoles

Equipment:
Pre-Amp: Integra DTR 5.9
Amp: B&K 200.5
Sub Amp: Dayton SA-1000
TV: Panasonic 60" ST30

Source Gear:
WD Live TV + 3 TB Seagate external hard drive (HTPC build in progress to replace)
Xbox 360 (hopefully Xbox One arrives via Santa this year)
Uverse DVR
Squeezebox Classic

Misc Gear:
Asus EA66 Network Bridge (provides network signal)
Netgear 8 port gigabit switch (connects all gear to network)
SVS AS-EQ1 ( EQ's sub)
APC H15 (all gear BUT amps on this device)

Cables:
Interconnects: Kimber Kable Hero w Ultraplates (Integra -> B&K)
Front 3 Speaker: Kimber Kable 8VS internal bi-wire
Surround Speakers: Monoprice 14 gauge
HDMI: Audioquest Cinnamon for all sources & TV
Optical: Generic (Squeezebox -> Integra)
PowerCables: Pangea AC-9 2m (B&K), Pangea AC-9SE 1.5m (Dayton), Pangea AC-14 (Xbox), Pangea AC-14SE (Integra)

But what you really want to see, as its a worthless thread without pics right?

I remember this. How did you end up running the wire?
  • Under the carpet for the left surround and around the baseboard for the right. Need to buy new wire and put it through the walls instead of the unpainted conduit I'm using

Looks good. If I were you I'd get another big a** sub, just so my house wouldn't lean. Nothing worse than your wife stepping through the window wearing high heals. Another sub could prevent that catastrophe.

Lol... Duals isn't an option if I use the current form factor sub... I'm working through some other ideas for a 3 cubic foot sealed sub that will dig deeper than what I have now... And because of its footprint I might be able to make duals...

That looks like a giant version of the B&K amp I just bought?

Looks like a great space to hang out, very nice.

Looks good! Seems like you need a better quality cabinet though. The middle being supported by wood blocks and all. Gotta love heavy amps...

Lol... Well with a 76lb amp (B&K) + 38lb amp (Dayton) + everything else I've got about 200lbs on it lol...

I'm hoping for a Salamander rack like @mantis maybe next year.

There are supports there just not enough hence the blocking. The unit also was bowed in the middle when it arrived but I didn't notice it right away and it got much worse when I moved from my Carver AV-705x (45 lbs IIRC) to the B&K....

But the B&K isn't going ANYWHERE anytime soon... Hell Id love a second one or a 200.2 (move L/R to their own amp) or another 200.5 for future speakers lol....

Looks real good Dan, and I agree about running the wires in-wall for the surrounds as I done the conduit as well and while it works, after running the wires in-wall it gives a clean look that pretty satisfying to me and more importantly the wife.

Cheers on a great looking system.

Yeah, but thats with the blinds open... Normally they are closed and it blocks "most" of that. The worst of the reflection is from a window in the Eat-In Kitchen that eventually I will do something major about... for just normal TV watching its fine, and for movies, I normally watch those later in the evening anyway so its already dark.

And the longer camera exposure makes it look a lot worse than it really is as well.

Great looking room man. Very classy and inviting.

Thanks Skip! My wife did most of that lol.... I just tell what what furniture or decorations I absolutely cant stand.... and then let her do whatever else she wants... or bargain for a HT item in return lol.....

The ONLY thing that was a pain (still is a bit) are all those picture frames.... They rattle REALLY bad when the sub is going, so I've had to gasket them all, and I'm still working through some issues with cabinet resonance too lol...

The word "Family" is a stick on thing and its been vibrated off the wall once or twice lol......

But now you can see why I need a massive sub (or two or three) for that room lol....

Our biggest issue has been accessories like that. We are slowly but surely finding some that we like at inexpensive prices, but it takes a lot of searching.

Yup... Etsy has been my wifes friend.... and Pintrest for a lot of the ideas.

It also helps we have a local lady who charges very good prices for woodworking so we've had her build our dining room table, and some other signs around the house....

That and repurposing some things (dining room chairs were CL purchase we painted white), etc has helped the bottom line......

We've done that as well. The luckiest grab we've had was a $3000+ Broyhill sectional that we got for free. I normally don't do used sofas for obvious reasons, but the family was legit and only ridding themselves of it to move out of state. It is a staple in our house. Its comfortable and sturdy as hell. It has a few flaws, but still is very presentable.

We have a couple of antique consoles as well. One serves as an entry table and another as a fish stand.

Yup.. we are gonna upgrade BIG TIME next year hopefully into some motorized reclining couch/loveseats... when we do this stuff will move to my loft more than likely and then that room will transform into more of a listening room than it is now......

Other than that upgrade the only real thing I want is a better entertainment stand (like we talked about), the Denon X4100 (coming soon) and if I can sneak in another sub or two or three that would rock....

Otherwise I am very pleased with the setup in general and am ALMOST at a point of not wanting to do anything as it will cost 10x more to get 1x improvement...

And none of you MFers better say "room treatments" or I will kill you . Those just aint happening here. I pick my battles and this is one not worth picking lol...

They may seem pricey but are actually great value and they don't fall apart. I'm on my 4th HT cab now and the first 2 were garbage... now I have 1 I really like but it is more furniture than functional but it is SOLID and weighs a ton.

The Triple 20 Stands From Salamander are awesome. Mine is 14-15 years old now and still in excellent condition. I have rotated so much gear in and out of it it's not even funny.
It will hold your B&K amp no problem. I had one in mine along with many other very heavy amps.
Now I gotta teach you how to fish wires in the wall and you would be all set.

I'm gonna do that for the rears soon as well as the front power and HDMI just don't have the cash for the pieces just yet.

And yes the triple 20 in cherry with black is what I'm going to do....
