Sorry I got called to work... And since I just took a little chunk of cash from the depo, figured I would take it. Just got home, headed for another shift in 5 hours. Not sure how functional I'll be.

Did not get to listen today, the measurements are all off my many inches... Can't get a good idea of the sound just yet.

I miss the 802 diamonds where they were since they were so optimized...

Here are some sneak pics... You'll see the new home for the 802. You can also see how nice the finishing is on the strads

Got so much crap to buy to get these Strads set... I need a laser leveler, I need some moving pucks/teflon pucks to help move them around better as it is nearly impossible to move with these stupid spikes.

Also, I need someone to give me a set of SS amps to test these speakers and see the cajones they have.

There is a pair of Magico S5s for sale on Audio Shark. Time to upgrade. :)

Also, there is a Berkeley Reference DAC for sale. The owner waited 7 months for this hand built and tuned DAC, and in that period he decided to go analog with low power SET amps. He wants list price, $15k.

That's obvious, because if they did you wouldn't have seen them on your doorstep. :)

You don't need a pair of DNA 500's.....one has 500 watts into 8 ohms, and will drive the snot out of those Strads. If you want monos though.....DNA 750 monos, that's gonna cost ya though.

You might also want to give Ted a jingle. He hasn't been around much but he displaced some Bat vk-600's with Wolcott's last I remember and felt no need to look at anything else.

Congrats Joey! These are beautiful and elegantly crafted speakers. SF never failed to impress me. I once owned very entry bookie from SF and the craftsmanship is top notch.

What amps are you having in mind and is there gonna be a review of some sort?

I'll get a report in once they are better situated... I've been working 6 straight unfortunately which is odd for me... But that was because we are headed to Chicago for a week and I had to front load my shifts.

I got lasers going in the room to help with the alignment.

Reports are all well and good...you got these fairly nice speakers and posted 2 rather shoddy photos...whip out the camera and take some nice ones...we like to see stuff eh...lol

    Fairly nice..

You're right though, I need better pics.

But I think I need to get a SS amp in here. And a better source. Damn this is getting expensive.

    Prelim thoughts...

    1. Strads are a beast. Full scale sound and full scale balanced. They love to be turned up... Even moreso than the diamonds. They also hold steady (don't become tonally unbalanced) at high volumes relative to the diamonds.

    2. More info than on the diamonds.

    3. I think they need SS amplification.

    Negatives
    1. At this time, I think I was able to get my 802 diamonds to image better.
    2. I'm not used to the bass this puts out.
    3. The diamonds wipe the floor interms of off axis listening.
    4.

    4. ut oh.

Hahahha... let me add to the negatives.

    I think #4 should read...

    4. Pain in the butt to move around. Now I know why I loved the BW casters. Also I enjoyed how the BW Diamonds were time aligned without needing to mess around with rake angle.

    Also... #5.

    5. Frustrating because I know the SF Strads can sound better... I've heard it. Could be partially the room, could be the upstreams.

Does it sound good as it is? Yes. But I'm OCD.

Sounds like you need to have either @DSkip , @marvda1, @txcoastal1 or one of the other TX polkies come over and help you dial em in.

From what I know they are fairly cheap as you just need to give em a 6 pack of PBR as payment and MAYBE some ribs (and beano for Skip)

Maybe the room is slightly too small for them? Run them down to the basement and see what they sound like down there. :'(

You talking about the Cary 05?

THat's the last thing to get replaced my friend.
